Once shareholder approval is granted, Satoru Yamamoto will assume the position of president and chief executive officer at Sumitomo Rubber Industries Ltd. (SRI) late next month. At the same time, incumbent president and chief executive officer, Ikuji Ikeda, will become chairman of the company’s Board of Directors.
At a ceremony attended by Slovenia’s Prime Minister, Dr Miro Cerar, and other national and local dignitaries, Sumitomo Rubber Industries Ltd. (SRI) broke ground on 17 May at its newest site. The plant project in Logatec, Slovenia focuses on non-tyre production, specifically the manufacture of rubber parts for medical applications, and builds upon the company’s acquisition of Lonstroff AG in 2015.
Sumitomo Rubber Industries (SRI) has held an official opening ceremony for the group’s new tyre factory in Cankiri, Turkey, named Sumitomo Rubber AKO Lastik Sanayi ve Ticaret AS (SAT). The Falken brand manufacturer will use the new facility to supply both the local Turkish market, which is benefitting from the country’s steady economic growth, and the geographically adjacent EMEA regions.
On 30 April, Sumitomo Rubber Industries held an opening ceremony for Sumitomo Rubber Australia Pty. Ltd., its new tyre sales corporation in Australia. Sumitomo Rubber Australia was founded in December 2014 as a joint venture with Sumitomo Corporation (SRI holds a 75 per cent equity share), and it began operating in March 2015.
