In addition to presenting a new summer product and design ideas for future mobility concepts, Hankook Tire says its focus at the IAA motor show next month will be on “innovations in premium original fitment tyres and the current winter tyre line-up.”
Bridgestone shares that it will present its “brand-new, designed and produced in Europe” Turanza T005 touring tyre at next month’s IAA Cars show in Frankfurt, Germany. Announcing the new tyre’s upcoming premiere, Bridgestone says that the Turanza T005 “has been designed to meet European drivers’ need to feel in full control in challenging, daily driving situations, particularly rainy days.”
Rhetoric coming from some corners would have us believe that diesel cars are evil and electric vehicles are the way, the truth and the light. Yet the humble diesel and its petrol-driven cousin aren’t finished yet. Not by a long way. Growing global demand for mobility will see internal combustion engines remain with us for some time to come, hopefully long enough for the champions of electromobility to overcome the technology’s current drawbacks.
Schmitz Cargobull trailers have rolled out the factory on Hankook-supplied tyres since 2013, and the two companies began collaborating in full-service business early last year after signing a further agreement covering the European market. During the IAA Commercial Vehicles show in Germany last month, Hankook Tire and Schmitz Cargobull signed a new agreement that extends their cooperation until 2019.
Goodyear’s new Super Fuelmax prototype truck tyres will be on show at the IAA commercial vehicle show 2016 in Hanover. The prototype steer and drive tyres, which are rated A in rolling resistance on the EU tyre label, will be fitted to one of the trucks on display at the DAF stand, which all stand out in highest fuel efficiency. The Super Fuelmax S steer tyre in size 385/55R22.5 and Super Fuelmax D drive tyre in size 315/70R22.5 are a further development of the low rolling resistance Goodyear Fuelmax range.
In addition to unveiling several new products, Hankook Tire’s big news from the IAA Commercial Vehicles show is its approval by Scania as an original equipment tyre supplier. As of November, Hankook Tire will supply 18 tyre dimensions to all Scania truck and bus models produced in Europe. According to Stefan Brückner, Hankook OE account manager Europe, 11 of these 22.5 inch dimensions will be for the important long haul segment, and the other seven for regional haul applications.
Natural rubber derived from dandelion roots is making its debut in truck and bus tyres and components produced by Continental. The German manufacturer will unveil a number of products that contain this raw material at the IAA Commercial Vehicles show this month, including Conti EcoPlus HD3 tyres made during the summer. These items merely offer a taste of things to come, however, as Continental states that production of Taraxagum – the name given to its dandelion rubber – will commence sometime within the next five to ten years.
The Z tyre programme, first launched two years ago, has now been expanded to include commercial vehicle tyres. These products will debut at the IAA Commercial Vehicles Show in Hannover this week and are being marketed as an economical and reliable aftermarket alternative for the truck and bus market. The Z truck tyre range consists of 26 dimensions and includes regional and long-haul fitments in sizes ranging from 17.5 to 22.5 inch fitments.
Continental will introduce its new Conti EfficientPro steer and drive axle tyres at next week’s IAA Commercial Vehicles show in Germany. This new, rolling resistance optimised range, specifically developed for long-distance motorway transport, draws upon the technologies already used in Continental’s EcoPlus tyre series. All Conti EfficientPro fitments have been given an EU tyre label rating of ‘A’ for fuel efficiency.
Speedline Truck will be at IAA Commercial Vehicles in Hannover, Germany, from 22 to 29 September 2016 for the third time in a row.
Speedline’s newest model is the SLT 3774, wheel size 22.5×11.75″ (ET 45). With the SLT 3598 wheel (19.5×14.00″, ET 120) for megatrailer applications, Speedline Truck reports that it “provides a unique solution in the market”.
Aeolus is set to showcase the first tyres in its new NEO series, while also presenting a range of Transace tyres for light commercial vehicles and vans at IAA 2016. Both Aeolus and Heuver have recently celebrated their 50th anniversaries and for over a decade, they have worked together to claim an important place in the European truck and trailer sector. But, partly due to the takeover of Pirelli, this position will no doubt be reinforced in the coming years.
This year’s IAA commercial vehicle show in Germany will serve as the launch venue for the new Pneuscan Onground system from Ventech Systems. The floor-mounted system can perform automatic tyre pressure and tread inspections on a range of vehicles, including passenger cars, vans, buses and multi-axle trucks. The portability of Pneuscan Onground is expected to be a major selling point for the system.
New solutions for coach operators and hauliers wishing to maximise fuel efficiency and cargo space will form the core of Hankook Tire’s product portfolio at next month’s IAA Commercial Vehicles show.
According to Hankook Tire, one aim of its second tyre brand, Laufenn, is to meet “various lifestyle needs for price conscious motorists across the European region.” The initial Laufenn range for Europe was presented at the IAA motor show in Frankfurt, Germany last September, and three of the five product lines displayed, the Laufenn S FIT EQ, G FIT EQ and X FIT VAN, are now being released in the European market.
