Hunter Earns NSPE Best New Product Honour

(Akron/Tire Review) Hunter Engineering won the Best New Product Award from the National Society of Professional Engineers (NSPE) for its DSP600 Digital Imaging Alignment Sensors. The NSPE award recognizes engineering ingenuity, functionality, safety, construction, marketing success and economic contribution. Hunter said the DSP600 Sensors were nominated for the national award after winning the Missouri Society of Professional Engineers (MSPE) New Product Award in 2005. Representatives from MSPE presented the 2006 NSPE New Product Award to Hunter Engineering executives during a recent visit to the company’s Bridgeton, Missouri, headquarters.

Miss Alignment No Trouble for Pro-Align

There was much interest in the Pro-Align stand at this year’s ATS. Not only did the company launch two new products to their range (SmartWeight a revolutionary wheel balancing technology, PA100 – a new entry-level Hunter Aligner) But “Miss Alignment” was there too, helping to promote the hourly ‘Alignment Show Live’ and SmartWeight demonstrations.

Hunter Aligns Ferraris at Maranello

Ferrari is upgrading all its Hunter conventional sensor wheel alignment systems to incorporate new digital imaging technology. For the last 12 years every new car made at Ferrari’s Maranello plant has received a final ‘Hunter’ wheel alignment check before leaving Maranello, according to Pro-Align.

Del-Nat President Leaves

(Akron/Tire Review) Del-Nat Tire Corp. president Dan Hunter abruptly left the company on 14 March. Mr Hunter, who served as president of the private brand cooperative, joined Del-Nat in 2001 after holding executive positions with Yokohama Tire Corp. Del-Nat chairman Dick Erickson, of Sun Tire in Jacksonville, Florida, is heading the search for a new president. He has assumed duties as Del-Nat’s president until a replacement for Hunter can be found.

Stahlgruber Forms Best Enterprise Alliance

Over the years the Stahlgruber group and its international subsidiaries has sold tens of thousands of items of capital equipment to the tyre industry. The company feels that consolidation in the equipment manufacturing industry has led to a narrowing of sourcing opportunities and a consequent adverse effect on price and customer choice. The answer was to form a ‘Best Enterprise Alliance’ in which a number of companies group together to form a product range, based on their individual areas of expertise. These companies are Stahlgruber, Butler (the Stahlgruber-owned manufacturer of tyre changers), Cemb, Hunter and Rotary Lifts. Butler will make a range of tyre changers, called Promont, and Cemb a range of wheel balancers, called Probalance, which will be exclusive to Stahlgruber and its subsidiaries. Hunter wheel alignment equipment and Rotary lifts will also be sold. Stahlgruber will continue to sell Butler tyre changers alongside the Promont range.
