The Gentler Way to Change Run-Flats?

Hofmann, one of Snap-on Equipment’s brands, has redesigned its high specification monty 3300 racing tyre changer to handle run-flat and ultra high profile (UHP) tyres. Marketed as the gentle way to change run-flats, the new plus model enables a more gentile way of handling alloy rims through the use of plastic protectors fitted to the wheel mounting head and clamping jaws.

According to the company, an automatically tilting back post and ergonomically positioned foot control pedals ensure the new monty 3300 racing plus is also user friendly, along with the use of a self-centring four-jaw chuck controlled by two clamping cylinders for quick and accurate clamping.

Hofmann Megaplan Enlarges Field Support

Hofmann Megaplan has recently made two additions to its field support team.

Rob Tomkins has joined in the capacity of Training & Technical Support, carrying out installation and training to customers to an advanced level. He has spent nine years in the tyre industry, having previously been a tyre fitter and progressing to Branch Manager with Just Tyres.

Hofmann Megaplan Launches New Mobile Tyre Changer

Hofmann Megaplan UK, one of the UK’s leading suppliers of high-performance tyre equipment, has launched the megamount 401 XL Racing – a new tyre changer designed to be used in a mobile fitting van.

The device has been developed from the ‘swing-arm’ principle popularly used in mobile fitting vans, but that has also presented limitations in terms of the range of wheels they can handle. The new apparatus represents an attempt to overcome these limitations by utilising the ‘Quadraclamp’ turntable system from Hofmann Megaplan’s 701. In conjunction with the “megafit” arm this allows a much larger clamping size than previous mobile fitter models.

Mobile Tyre Changer From Hofmann Megaplan

Hofmann Megaplan has recently introduced what the company claims to be the most capable tyre changer ever designed to be used in a mobile fitting van.

The megamount 401 XL Racing works on the space-saving ‘swing-arm’ principle that has proved so popular over the years in mobile fitting vans, but that has also presented limitations in terms of the range of wheels they can handle. The 401 overcomes these limitations by utilising the ‘Quadraclamp’ turntable system from the 701 model that allows clamping up to 26″, and the ‘megafit’ arm for handling stiff, low profile and run-flat tyres.

Hofmann Megaplan Launch HM TV

Hofmann Megaplan has recently launched HM TV, a new website-based feature showing valuable tyre equipment-related information. HM TV is initially showcasing demonstrations on various Hofmann Megaplan tyre changers, balancers and accessories, but will eventually be used more widely to provide tips and advice on matters such as fitting and balancing of specific tyres and rims, general industry news and interviews.

“We see HM TV as a major part of our customer awareness plans for the future,” commented Hofmann Megaplan MD James Boon. “When a customer is making an investment in equipment that should last him for a good few years, it is important that he makes the right decisions based on more than just a price and a brochure, and HM TV will enable us to provide much more in the way of information and advice than would normally be possible.”

Gavin Masterton Retires, Nearly

Maywood Equipment Group has announced that Gavin Masterton has retired from day to day responsibilities for the group, but will continue in a consultative position. This means, while he leaves the sales side of the business in the capable hands of Sales Managers Carlo Aloroni and John Baron, he will continue in his role as the groups, publicity and advertising coordinator.

Gavin Masterton has worked in the Automotive industry all his working life, having started as an apprentice with Smiths Industries when they were famous for dashboard instruments, Bluecol, antifreeze and KLG spark plugs. He then spent 10 years with the Brown Brothers as a salesman, Branch Manager and Branch Sales Director before returning to Smiths Industries to become a director for the companies that Smiths had purchased including Affiliated Factors and Godfrey Holmes. During that period he also became managing director of Long Life Accessories, a chain of 100 retail motor accessory shops before that business was sold to Motorist Discount Centres in 1982.

Maywood Introduces Latest Hofmann Lift

Maywood Equipment Group, sole UK importers of Hofmann lifts, has announced the launch of the Service lift 4000. The first new lift that Hofmann has introduced for four years, the Service lift 4000 has undergone extensive design and field tests to make ensure quality meets the company’s high standards.

The Service lift 4000 is an electro-hydraulic full-length platform scissor lift designed for general service work and wheel alignment. It has a 4 tonne capacity and the height compacts to just 180mm. Safety photocells for synchronisation control and stability at maximum height and incorporated into the Service lift 4000, as is a manual lowering device for use in the event of a power outage.

Lotus Choose Hofmann Megaplan

Tyre and wheel equipment supplier Hofmann Megaplan has recently installed a new tyre & wheel assembly line for Lotus at the car manufacturer’s factory in Hethel, Norfolk. The new facility includes a megaspin 900 TFT wheel balancer, megamount ‘Boss’ tyre changer and various items from the ‘speedline’ system including inflation system and wheel lifters.

Snap-on Equipment Announces Key New Appointments

Snap-on Equipment has announced key new appointments in sales, marketing and operational roles as part of its strategy of further developing the Hofmann and John Bean brands and providing customers with an effective service and support infrastructure.

Matt Stephens has been appointed to the position of national sales manager. Stephens brings to Snap-on Equipment almost 20-years’ sales experience in the automotive aftermarket, most recently as UK sales manager for tyre consumables supplier, Auto4. Prior to that he was employed in the capacity of regional sales manager for Würth, the workshop supplies specialist. Stephens is supported by John Dawes, who joins as marketing coordinator. Dawes previously worked as a marketing specialist for semiconductor manufacturer, Microchip.

Snap-on Announces Sales, Marketing and Operation Appointments

Snap-on Equipment has appointed new national sales, UK field service and marketing managers. Matt Stephens has been appointed as National Sales Manager. He brings almost 20-years’ sales experience in the automotive aftermarket, most recently as UK Sales Manager for tyre consumables supplier, Auto4. Prior to that Matt was a Regional Sales Manager for Würth, the workshop supplies specialist. He is supported by John Dawes, who joins as Marketing Coordinator. John previously worked as Marketing Specialist for semiconductor manufacturer, Microchip.

Maywood Adds to its Force Range

Following the successful launch of the Force 36 3.6 tonne electro-hydraulic 2-post lift, Maywood has announced it will be adding the Force 60 to its range. The Force 60 is an electro-hydraulic two-post lift with base frame. It compliments Maywood’s range of lifts for large and heavy cars as well as the light truck market. Within this range Maywood offers the Hofmann 5 tonne two-post lift, which has vehicle manufacturer approval from Ford, Volkswagen, Renault and many others. Maywood believes the Force 60 can now give a workshop even greater capacity at the same price, and offers convenience through removing the necessity for a vehicle owner to empty the vehicle before the lift is raised. Therefore this lift is ideal for “Transit” like vehicles, but is also capable of lifting the majority of vehicles available in the UK.

Maywood Releases New 2 Post Lift

The Maywood Equipment Group has announced the arrival of a brand new electro hydraulic 2 post lift, the KH32. This lift is produced exclusively for Maywood and its introduction comes subsequent to extensive market testing in France and more recently in The UK. The KH32 is available in either single or three phase and has a 3.2 tonne capacity. It features a baseframe, extending its suitability to almost any floor, subject to good concrete conditions. Maywood reports the KH32 is competitively priced and available from the company’s distributors, including Unipart Automotive.

Features of the KH32 lift include arms that swing inwards to fit in between wheels and has a double cable lifting mechanism. It is suitable for general workshop use but also for tyre bays or body repair shops. The lifting pad height is 110 mm, suitable for most cars, and the lifting height of 2074 mm is higher than many lifts. The KH32 comes equipped with many safety features including integrated emergency lowering feature.

Micheldever Chooses Hofmann Megaplan

Micheldever Tyres have chosen Hofmann Megaplan as a preferred equipment supplier following an “extensive evaluation of their products.” Micheldever, which operates a number of retail sites under the Micheldever and Pro-Tyre banners, took the decision to review their equipment supply source and as such reportedly trialled machines from a number of manufacturers. Prior to the news Micheldever’s record breaking Micheldever Station retail outlet ran an exclusive supply agreement with Snap-On.

According to company representatives, Hofmann Megaplan equipment, in particular the megamount 701XL tyre changer, performed to their complete satisfaction and received positive reviews from those who put the machines through their paces.

VW Approves Hofmann Geodyna 6900P Balancer

Volkswagen has approved the Hofmann geodyna 6900p automatic wheel balancer for use in the manufacturer’s authorised service centres. Snap-on Equipment will supply the machine with automatic wheel data entry under the designation VAS 6420. The geodyna 6900p joins another five Hofmann wheels balancers approved by VW.

Snap-On Honours Nigel Vogler After 23-years Service

Nigel Vogler, former Hofmann Sales Director and Area Sales Manager for Snap-on Equipment has retired after a career spanning 23-years with the garage equipment company. His friends and colleagues at Snap-on Equipment’s headquarters in Reading gave the former Garage Equipment Association (GEA) Council Member a warm send off and wished him well for his new life and retirement in Cheshire. Chris Pleass, Sales Manager for Snap-on Equipment, comments: “Nigel is a true senior statesman in our industry and will not be forgotten. I shall miss his wise counsel and open approach and wish him all the best for the future.”
