Snap-on Equipment has introduced two new ‘lever-less’ semi-automatic tyre changers under the Hofmann and John Bean brands for the gentle and user-friendly mounting and demounting of run-flat and ultra high performance (UHP) tyres.
Garage equipment specialists Trade Garage Equipment Limited recently held the organisation's first annual Golf Day, at the superbly appointed Lingdale Golf Club, close to TGE's headquarters at Shepshed. The event was hosted by TGE Chairman Keith Fairlie and it was held in order to celebrate a successful year's business and say "thank you" to the company's leading suppliers. These include such well-known names as Rotary Lift, SPX, Maha, Hofmann Megaplan, Alentec Orion, amongst many others.
Ayce Systems has confirmed that the company will have two stand spaces at next month’s Brityrex International Exhibition in Manchester. The Yorkshire-based firm reports that it will be displaying a comprehensive range of wheel refurbishment products including the Wheelrite Pro and the flexible Wheelrite Combi machines on a 33 square metre stand, as well as having their LWB Mercedes Sprinter demonstration van on another stand alongside.
Products on-show are set to include the Wheelrite Pro, which reportedly incorporates “everything needed to repair and re polish kerbed scratched and corroded alloy wheels”, whilst the dual purpose Wheelrite Combi brings together, for the first time tyre fitting and alloy wheel refurbishment. Other products on show will be an Hydraulic Wheel Straightening machine, the Wheelrite Pro Spray Booth and a Dust Extractor unit.

Automotive aftermarket exhibition organiser ECI International also confirmed that the popular tyre trade and garage equipment show, Tyrexpo Africa, will return to Johannesburg at the Sandton Convention Centre. “2012 will be the fourth staging of Tyrexpo Africa and we are confident that the show will continue to grow and establish itself as the premier tyre and garage equipment trade event of its kind in southern Africa,” says ECI managing director Paul Farrant.

Tyre changing and balancing firm Hofmann Megaplan has announced the appointment of two new members of staff. Mark Berryman has joined the company as operations director, looking after all aspects of customer service, including installation management and aftersales. John Baron also joins the team in the position of equipment specialist for the south of England.
Wegmann Automotive the parent company of the Hofmann balance weight brand and the world leader in weight production is set to present the results of a series of long-running tests at the Forthcoming Essen Show. In order to answer the ongoing question “why balance?” the company has produced video to illustrate the effects of imbalance on the vehicle and their impact on safety, comfort and vehicle wear. In order to make the messages clear to customers and consumers, some of which are more complicated and wide ranging than you first might think clearer, Wegmann has developed a specially designed counter display which will also be presented at the tyre show.
Hofmann, a brand within Snap-on Equipment, says that its geolite 3D wheel alignment machine makes the process “accessible to more workshops”, with a price tag of £7,995 (excluding VAT). The company says the geolite has the facility to take accurate alignment readings to OEM specification in under three-minutes from vehicle set-up, with global passenger car data for vehicles up to 25-years old.
Snap-on Equipment reports that its first UK customer for the Hofmann Quadriga 1000 automatic tyre changer has taken delivery of the machine. Wrexham-based Minera Tyres & Exhaust has been supplied with the new, state-of-the-art machine, which enables tyres to be automatically demounted and mounted from wheel rims with a diameter of up to 30”. The Quadriga 1000 was supplied by Unipart Garage Equipment Services.
Snap-on Equipment has introduced two new tyre changers under the Hofmann and John Bean brands to meet what the company perceives as a growing need for tyre shops and garages to handle the larger wheel rim diameters fitted to an increasing number of cars on the road: the Hofmann monty 3300-24 and John Bean T4500-24.
Snap-on Equipment is urging tyre shops to consider the commercial opportunity of adding wheel alignment to their existing undercar service business. Field research by the garage equipment manufacturer has shown that by carrying out just four alignment procedures per day can generate additional net income of £32,910 per annum, based on a five and a half day week, direct costs of £15 per hour and a charge of £50 for each alignment procedure. Accurate wheel alignment also diagnoses chassis problems due to kerbing and pothole damage that can often require replacement suspension and steering components, resulting in further revenue generation.
ECI International has confirmed that 70 per cent of stand space for Brityrex International 2010 (5, 6 and 7 October at Manchester Central) has now been sold. Confirming the positive take-up from exhibitors, ECI managing director Paul Farrant said: “We continue to make very good progress with the exhibition and I can put everyone’s mind to rest by confirming that Brityrex will definitely be taking place as planned in Manchester in October. Reaching the 70 per cent milestone at this relatively early stage means we go forward with confidence and in the knowledge that the industry is firmly behind the exhibition.”
Hofmann, a brand within Snap-on Equipment, has introduced a new design for the geodyna ‘off-the-vehicle’ 980L and 4800L truck, bus and coach wheel balancers. Both machines now feature a reinforced cabinet, which is, Hofmann claims, stronger yet 30 per cent lighter than before. Other enhancements include a redesigned wheel guard support that enables the guard to be handled more smoothly and conveniently.
