As a platinum partner, Hella will be exhibiting a broad range of its workshop equipment, as well as its original equipment (OE) replacement parts programme, at Automechanika Birmingham. Through its Hella Gutmann brand, Hella will be showing both vehicle diagnostics and tools for advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS), from stand Q90 in hall 19.
Hella’s UK managing director, Neil Grant, has become a Silver Member of the Automotive 30% Club, a voluntary network of automotive executives. “I believe that the greater the level of diversity within a team, the greater the variety of ideas and strategies that will be generated,” Grant explains. “In an industry that is changing rapidly, it is vitally important that we are able to attract the best people and that we have the most diverse pool of talent to select from. I am therefore a huge advocate of the Automotive 30% Club and look forward to playing an active part in improving gender equality within the industry, for the greater good of everyone.”
Judith Buss and Andreas Renschler are to join the Shareholder Committee and the Supervisory Board of Hella GmbH & Co. KGaA as independent members. The corresponding election of candidates is to take place at Hella’s Annual General Meeting on 30 September, 2022. Andreas Renschler is then also to take over as Chairman of the Supervisory Board and on that board, Judith Buss is to act as Chairwoman of the Audit Committee. Andreas Renschler and Judith Buss thus succeed Klaus Kühn, who has announced that, for personal reasons, he would be stepping down from the aforementioned positions at the end of the AGM.
Global automotive supplier Hella, which operates under the umbrella brand FORVIA, has agreed the sale of its 33.33 per cent stake in HBPO Beteiligungsgesellschaft mbH (“HBPO”) to its co-shareholder, Plastic Omnium. The agreed purchase price amounts to 290 million euros. The transaction is subject to customary regulatory approvals, but closing is expected in the fourth quarter of 2022.
After a two-year break, the 35th ADAC Truck Grand Prix is taking place from 15 to 17 July, 2022 at the Nürburgring. In addition to exciting races, stunt shows and show acts, a large industrial fair will be held away from the world-famous racetrack in the exhibition park, where Hella, the internationally positioned lighting and electronics specialist, and part of the FORVIA Group of Companies, will also be represented. Original equipment (OE) manufacturer and system supplier Hella, has appointed experienced aftermarket professional Ian Boyle to the position of Sales & Marketing Director for its aftermarket division in the UK and Eire. Ian Boyle brings considerable sales and product knowledge to the role, having spent 11 years at First Line, progressing to UK sales director, and previously 12 years at Quinton Hazell in a product management capacity.
Following the successful takeover of Hella by Faurecia, the two companies made their first joint appearance at an automotive trade fair under the new, overarching umbrella brand Forvia. Hella and Faurecia, with around 150,000 employees, form the seventh-largest automotive supplier worldwide and one of the global market leaders in high-growth technology fields. At this year’s Automotive Engineering Exposition, which took place in Yokohama, Japan, from 25 to 27 May 2022 and is one of the leading industry trade fairs in the Asian region, they presented technologies for a safe, sustainable, advanced and customised mobility as part of a joint stand concept. The approximately 100 square metre stand was designed in the stylistic colours blue and white, which characterise the new brand identity of the Forvia umbrella brand. In total, around 1,000 customers, business partners and other guests visited the Forvia stand.
Back in August 2020, we reported on the joint venture (Hella Minth Jiaxing Automotive Parts Co. Ltd) established between Hella and the Minth Group to develop and market radomes (absorbent covers for radar systems) and illuminated logos. We learned recently that the JV has put a second production plant into operation in the Chinese city of Jiaxing, to meet growing demand. The permeable covers for radar systems can be manufactured in special designs according to customer requirements and embedded in the radiator grille or in a customer logo, for example.
The DoIP-capable (Diagnostics over Internet Protocol) multi-brand diagnostic device mega macs X was developed by Hella Gutmann with the ultra-fast communication standards of future vehicles in mind. It can also be flexibly adapted to the needs of a workshop at any time – for example, for expansion to high-voltage vehicles. The new measurement module MT-HV enables the mandatory measurements in the high-voltage range. The wireless pairing of the mega macs X with the MT-HV makes a dream team for working on a wide variety of vehicle types. These include electric and hybrid vehicles, whose power systems are designed for up to 1,000 volts, as well as conventional vehicles with low-voltage power systems.
Hella has expanded its site in Großpetersdorf, Austria. The company’s subsidiary, Hella Fahrzeugteile Austria GmbH has invested in the construction of a new 450sqm tool warehouse on three levels and a 600sqm logistics hall. The investment will also cover the renewal and expansion of machinery. The developments, in which the company is investing several million euros, are scheduled for completion by the end of 2022.

Following the news that HELLA and Faurecia are joining forces, the two automotive suppliers have announced that they will be operating jointly in the aftermarket. This means that Faurecia products will soon also be available through HELLA’s aftermarket division. By bundling activities, not only do customers benefit from a comprehensive range of services, but above all from a significantly expanded product spectrum.
Faurecia, a leading global player in the automotive industry, has successfully completed the acquisition of lighting and electronics specialist Hella after receiving all necessary regulatory approvals. Faurecia acquired a total of approx. 79.5 per cent of the shares in Hella, including the 60 per cent share package of the Hella pool shareholders as well as ca. 19.5 per cent as part of the public takeover offer ended on 11 November 2021. The transaction creates the seventh-largest automotive supplier worldwide and a global market leader in high-growth technology fields.
