Goodyear relocating Latin America HQ to Akron

According to a report emanating from Goodyear’s hometown, the tyre maker intends to bring its regional headquarters for Latin America back to company headquarters in Akron (Ohio, US) next year. The Akron Beacon Journal wrote on 16 December that efforts to relocate the headquarters in São Paulo, Brazil will begin early in 2015 with the transfer of senior management to Akron. Goodyear will spend several months evaluating which other positions it will move from São Paulo to the US, the Akron Beacon Journal added. The headquarters has been based in São Paulo since 2005, after it was moved from Akron.

Bridgestone confirms move ‘downtown’

Reports published yesterday on Bridgestone Americas’ upcoming move to a new headquarters have been confirmed by the tyre maker. In a statement, the Bridgestone subsidiary said it will move its headquarters to downtown Nashville following the completion of its new facility in mid-to-late 2017. The new headquarters will house more than 1,700 employees – 1,100 currently based in Nashville and 600 more jobs from three out-of state business units that are being relocated to the city.

Goodyear HQ wins environmental design award

The Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company’s global headquarters building in Akron has earned a Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design (LEED) Gold rating from the US Green Building Council. At 639,000 square feet, it is among the largest LEED Gold certified buildings in Ohio. The LEED green building program ensures buildings conserve energy, water and other resources and are safer and healthier for occupants. Gold certification indicates Goodyear’s high level of investment in best-in-class building strategies and practices.

Yokohama Tire relocating US headquarters

Let’s hope that Yokohama Tire Corporation held on to those packing cartons, as it will soon embark on its second growth-prompted move of the year. Yokohama Rubber’s North American sales and marketing operation will move its corporate headquarters from Fullerton, California to nearby Santa Ana to accommodate business growth. The move is expected to take place in November.

Bridgestone exploring options for larger US headquarters site

It appears Bridgestone Americas is looking for a larger place to call home. The Tennessean reports that Bridgestone’s US subsidiary is looking for a 400,000 square foot (37,000 square metre) premises in downtown Nashville. This is around double the floorspace the company now occupies in the city’s airport area. The lease at Bridgestone Americas’ current headquarters site expires in 2017, and the shortlist for potential new properties is said to include a high-rise office tower that will be built as part of a redevelopment project at the old Nashville Convention Center.

Toyo announces personnel, organisational changes

As reported on 28 April, as of the start of May Toyo Tire Europe president Naoki Gonsui will also become president of Toyo Tire Deutschland. Toyo has announced a further personnel change taking effect 1 May: Kiyohito Hasumi, currently president of Toyo Tire Canada, will take on the additional role of president, Nitto Tire Canada.

IAAF network meeting launch success

The Independent Automotive Aftermarket Federation (IAAF) has held the first in a new series of members’ network meetings for parts suppliers, distributors, installers and members of the press. All 30 places were taken at the exclusive event, held at First Line’s headquarters in Banbury. Feedback was extremely positive with the information provided described as “excellent” by attendees, with additional comments rating the event as “very informative” and “thought provoking”.

Bruce Besancon has been appointed vice-president of marketing at Alliance Tire Group’s US subsidiary. Besancon comes to Alliance Tire Americas with more than 20 years of expertise working for Michelin North America, including five years heading marketing efforts for Michelin’s earthmover business unit.

New Giti Tire UK HQ

Giti Tire has moved its UK headquarters to new 3,000 square foot offices in Northwich, Cheshire in a move the company described as preparation for “British and pan-European expansion”. According to company, representatives, the new facility will house the passenger car, SUV and light truck (PCR) and commercial truck and bus (TBR) operations across the three main brands, GT Radial, Primewell and Runway.

Kumho extends Australian rally commitment

Olney appointed TRW Automotive COO

Effective 1 January 2014, Patrick Olney will take on the role of chief operating officer at TRW Automotive Holdings. In his new position, the current president of Volvo Construction Equipment will report directly to TRW Automotive chairman and chief executive officer John Plant. Olney will be based in Michelin, USA, and replaces Steve Lunn, who previously announced his intention to retire effective 28 February 2014.

Italmatic and Tesco of America enter joint venture
