Yesterday morning, Yokohama Rubber held a groundbreaking ceremony for its Hangzhou Qiantang Yokohama Tire Co., Ltd plant in China. Yokohama Rubber intends for the factory to begin operations in 2026 with an initial production capacity of 9 million passenger car tyres a year, a quantity that will deliver estimated annual revenues of RMB 3.5 billion (£379.6 million). The factory’s planned final yearly capacity is 14 million tyres.
The Yokohama Rubber Co., Ltd., is planning to invest 1,960 million yuan (roughly ¥36.7 billion; £212.8 million; 250.5 million euros; $269.7 million) in the construction of a new passenger car tyre factory to serve domestic Chinese demand. Production at the new plant is scheduled to start in the second quarter of 2026. The new plant will be located in the Qiantang New District of Hangzhou City, Zhejiang Province, and will have an initial annual production capacity of 9 million tyres, with further expansion “to be considered in the future”.
ZC Rubber’s subsidiary in Xindeng Town, Fuyang District, Hangzhou City, is planning to add 2.5 million all-steel radial tyres to its production capacity. ZC Rubber stated that the company plans to build a new production workshop and auxiliary facilities shared by the Xindeng Town plant in the reserved space inside the factory. The total construction investment is expected to be 700 million yuan (about £85.14 million, 102 million euros).
