Giti Tire has announced the appointment of Dr Gabriele Bosselmann to the newly created position of HR director – Europe. Dr Bosselmann will join the EU leadership team and be responsible for HR policies, processes and procedures, as well as hold a key role in the development of business plans and objectives.
GT Radial has announced that it will debut its first all position urban city-bus tyre at its CV Show stand (A60) in Hall Five on 9-11 April at the Birmingham NEC. The GAU861 has a reinforced sidewall to improve curbing and impact damage resistance, the manufacturer says, while the new tyre will start with a 20.2mm tread depth. As well as promoting the new product, GT Radial says it will be presenting its commercial vehicle roadside service assistance programme, GT Assist, launched in December 2012.
TyreSafe has announced that GiTi Tire has become its first new member in 2013. The company’s managing director – Europe Richard Lyons said that GiTi was demonstrating its commitment to customers’ safety and its products’ quality by joining the organisation. TyreSafe chairman Stuart Jackson pronounced himself “delighted to welcome GiTi Tire on board as a key member”. TyreSafe will continue to run a number of campaigns targeting wider awareness of tyre safety, including October’s Tyre Safety Month. The organisation’s major focus this year is on promoting tyre safety to young drivers, following its high-profile demonstrations of the hidden dangers of part-worn tyres.
GiTi Tire has appointed Michael Kaletta as national Sales and Marketing manager for truck and bus tyres. Kaletta will be responsible for all aspects of the commercial vehicle tyre market, including the formulation and delivery of growth targets through a dedicated sales team. The appointment is designed to strengthen GiTi Tire’s German operation significantly, though the five members of the sales team already possess over 100 years of collective experience in the sector. Kaletta will report directly to Richard Lyons, managing director – GiTi Tire Germany, and play a key role in further establishing the profile of GiTi Tire’s leading brand, GT Radial as a “leading mid-tier proposition with an excellent price per kilometre delivered through a seamless buying experience”, GiTi Tire said.
So far GT Radial has launched 12 new tyres in 2012, and intends to introduce a further ten before the end of the year. Two of the tyre maker’s latest products are on display at the IAA Commercial Vehicles show this week – the GAR820 steer axle tyre and GDL617 drive axle pattern.

GiTi Tire has appointed Gillian MacRae as finance controller – Europe. The company says that the McRae’s appointment will strengthen its management team. She will be responsible for the planning, monitoring and management of company business plans, with an initial focus on UK and German markets, across all four main brands: GT Radial, Primewell, Runway and Dextero.
Just over a week before the Reifen Essen exhibition kicks off, organisers Messe Essen have launched an interactive floor plan to help visitors with their final planning for the event. At the same time Messe Essen recommended online prior registration in order to save waiting times at the exhibition hall itself.
GT Radial launched its new truck products the GSR220 steer tyre and the GDL617 drive tyre from its stand at the 2012 Commercial Vehicle Show at the Birmingham NEC, but it was the company’s Ree Tread tyre – its first commercial retread tyre – that commanded much attention from visitors to the stand. The company said that the show had been “a real success”, with over 30 high-quality leads, including a large number of senior national and European key fleet contacts, gained from its participation.
GT Radial’s representatives presented details about the company's new GT Radial WinterPro HP during the dealer visit to its winter testing facility in Ivalo, Finland. A “high performance winter tyre” that was under development in Ivalo this winter, the tyre will be manufactured in Indonesia.
GT Radial took its European dealers to Test World’s Mellatracks Proving Ground in Ivalo, Finland on 19-24 March to test the Champiro WinterPro and studded Champiro IcePro winter tyres. Facing a range of snow and ice handling tests, the brand showed its winter tyres’ ability; the unstudded WinterPro, most suitable for European markets such as Germany and the growing UK segment, is TÜV-SÜD accredited, having completed a tyre comparison test in 2010.
GT Radial has announced that it will unveil its first commercial retread tyre product, the GT REE Tread, at The Commercial Vehicle Show 2012. With the brand representing an acronym for “Reliable, Economical and Environmental”, GT REE Tread is a high quality, hot cure bead-to-bead retread built on GT Radial casings. The company will present the tyre alongside its other new commercial products, the GSR220 steer axle pattern and the GDL617 non-directional long haul drive axle pattern, on Stand G40, in Hall 2.
The UK’s weather and public feeling about further hikes in fuel costs are heating up, but cooler tyre industry heads at distributor GT Radial are suggesting that road users could save around 15 pence per litre of fuel by ensuring their tyres are properly inflated. The manufacturer’s representatives say the problem of under-inflation is compounded by the shifting seasonal temperature; as the UK’s weather starts to warm up, tyres will start to lose air more quickly than during the winter months, said the company’s managing director for Europe, Richard Lyons.
