Nexen confirms Spanish Police tyre supply deal

Grupo Soledad has won the contract to supply and maintain tyres for the Spanish National Police fleet. The Spanish Ministry of the Interior reportedly chose Grupo Soledad, which will supply and fit Nexen tyres for Spanish National Police cars, based on the distributor’s “quality and service proposal”.
Grupo Soledad-member Insa Turbo reports that Kraiburg has been able to significantly expand its share in the Spanish retreading material market. Grupo Soledad is one of the key players in the Spanish market, with its distribution network totalling more than 100 of its own shops and a franchise network with 1,000 points of sale in Spain and Portugal. And what’s more, the two plan to cooperate more closely in future.
Greenval Technologies has announced plans to invest 20 million euros in the construction of tyre pyrolysis/energy generation plant in Aspe, Spain. The facility is scheduled to start running in 2023 and will generate more than 100 jobs during construction plus 30 ongoing jobs at the facility. Aspe City Council is said to be already studying the proposal in light of the necessary licenses.
Sales turnover fell 15 per cent during 2020 at Iberian tyre retail and distribution specialists Grupo Soledad. However, figures rose 24 per cent in 2021, resulting in record sales of 353 million euros as well as profits of 13.7 million euros – both numbers suggesting that previous figures were a Covid-related blip and that the company is currently on a “V-shaped” recovery trajectory. Grupo Soledad’s previous sales record was 336 million euros in 2019.
Tyres Service Costa in Cálida, Cartagena, Spain was inaugurated on 3 February in an event attended by local mayor, Noelia María Arroyo Hernández. The tyre retailer is part of leading tyre network Grupo Soledad’s Confortauto chain.
Leading Spanish retreader Insa Turbo, which is part of the Soledad Group, has signed a collaboration agreement with Kraiburg Austria that leads to the use of Kraiburg retreading materials at the retreader’s Aspe (Alicante) factory. According to an Insa Turbo statement, the alliance includes a roadmap which “defines the gradual implementation of Austrian technology in the process of hot retreading and pre-curing of truck tyres.”
Spanish tyre distributor Grupo Soledad has entered into an agreement with Sailun Tyre that gives it exclusive distribution of the Sailun brand in Spain and Portugal. The distribution agreement was signed by the Sailun Group’s European management and José Pérez, commercial director of Grupo Soledad.
Hankook tyres will be fitted to more than 1,100 city buses in Barcelona under a new supply agreement with the city’s main public transit operator, Transports Metropolitans de Barcelona (TMB). Tyres will be supplied and fitted by Grupo Soledad, Hankook Tire’s distributor in Spain.
Vipal brand hot retreading products will be manufactured in Spain thanks to a new joint venture started by the South American market leader and Mezclas Caucho. Not only is this a first in Europe; the JV’s production line will be the first anywhere in the world for Vipal outside its domestic Brazilian market. The agreement was officially signed during Reifen 2016, the world’s largest tyre trade show, which was held in May in Essen, Germany. It adds to Vipal’s increased activities in Europe, marked by sustained expansion over recent years.
