Facts needed: Giti Tire addresses US workforce claims
Giti Tire has responded to allegations of problematic employee relations at its Richburg plant in the USA. Following the publication of a joint letter penned by the United Steelworkers (USW) union and “more than 40 civic, faith and government leaders,” David Shelton, director of industry relations, Giti Tire Manufacturing (USA), states that the tyre maker “always welcomes sincere and legitimate input from our team members and other community members.” He adds that Giti Tire’s policy is to ensure it possesses “all the facts and accurate information” before taking action on such matters and calls upon others to do likewise.
Racing vlogger Broadbent takes wheel of GT Radial Fun Cup car
The GT Radial 2021 Fun Cup Endurance Championship car was piloted by vlogger and esports gamer Jimmy Broadbent and director at Tegiwa Imports, Luke Sedzikowski at Oulton Park. The pair finished 10th in the one-hour sprint race, but exited the four-hour race after an hour and 34 minutes due to gearbox failure in the penultimate rounds of the 2021 championship. Nevertheless, Broadbent’s 25-minute video detailing his participation at the event has racked up more than 135,000 views so far, demonstrating the Giti brand’s social media strategy for the series.
Giti Tire’s Martin Gibson rises to 2nd in BTRC
Giti Tire manager – EU Testing Centre and Motorsport UK, Martin Gibson will enter the penultimate round of the 2021 British Truck Racing Championship (BTRC) second in the title race, trailing the leader by only one point. Gibson secured the highest points tally at Snetterton, taking him to 254, after securing two victories, two third places, a sixth-place finish and two fastest laps across five races on the 2.9-mile circuit. His partner at Giti Tire Motorsport, Stuart Oliver secured second in race five to ensure a one-two finish. He also came third, fourth place twice and fifth.
Giti Tire highly present at Berlin Marathon
After a year out for Covid-related reasons, the Berlin Marathon took place again in 2021 and almost 25,000 people took to the streets of the German capital last Sunday. Every single runner who covered the 26.2 miles carried the yellow and black Giti Tire logo.

Giti Tire introduces first European off-road tyre for high mobility vehicles
Giti Tire has launched its first European off-road truck tyre for high mobility vehicles operating under the most extreme terrains – the Giti GAO897. Available in size 14.00R20, Giti says it designed the tyre to provide outstanding traction on unpaved surfaces, mud, sand, gravel and ice, as well as on the road.
Giti-sponsored truck team Holten completes Rallye Breslau
Giti-sponsored truck racing team Holten finished one of the world’s leading extreme off-road events with only one set of Giti tyres. Described as the “Dakar of Europe”, the Rallye Breslau in Poland is a five-day, 1,300km cross-country rally across some of the most difficult terrains. The Netherlands-based team entered a modified Mercedes 1622 800HP and a Scania 4×4 630 in a field of 28 vehicles in the Extreme Trucks category.

Giti Tire will travel to Thruxton this weekend as the 2021 British Truck Racing Championship, of which the manufacturer is the sponsor, prepares for its second round. Last time out at Brands Hatch (5-6 June), Giti’s drivers secured the team’s first victory and four further podium finishes over five races. Martin Gibson, Giti Tire’s manager – EU Testing Centre and Motorsport UK, and Stuart Oliver of Team Oliver Racing, are competing in Giti Tire Motorsport designed trucks. Gibson won the fourth race at Brands, while Oliver finished in second place, repeating his achievement in race one.
Giti Tire praises #gitiracing all-female team after Nürburgring 24H class win
Giti Tire has praised the #gitiracing all-female team after securing their first class win at the Nürburgring 24-Hour. Racing in the Giti Tire Motorsport by WS Racing Audi R8 LMS GT4, the team beat a competitive Lexus RCF after driver Carrie Schreiner secured pole with a 9:19.646-minute lap of the Nordschleife. Following a lengthy delay due to fog, Célia Martin set a fastest lap of 9:11.605 as the team completed 52 laps, finishing in 45th place overall. 121 cars started the race, with 99 finishing in extremely challenging conditions.
Giti Tire Motorsport puts four on Nürburgring 24-Hour starting grid
Four Giti Tire cars have qualified for the 49th ADAC TOTAL 24h Race 2021 at the Nürburgring (3-6 June). The tyre manufacturer will compete in a fifth straight year and its third with the pioneering #gitiracing all-female team. This season all cars will run on GitiCompete GTR1 tyres, part of Giti’s comprehensive global range of competition racing tyres. Giti says its technology findings are adapted to further develop its everyday portfolios.
AO fit Giti GTR955 Combi Road on new Tiger Trailers fleet
The online electricals retailer AO will fit Giti GTR955 Combi Road tyres on its new fleet of 50 Tiger Moving Double Deck trailers. The Giti Group has supplied tyres exclusively to AO’s wholly owned logistics fleet of 2,000 units, trailers and vans since the relationship was established 18 months ago. Tyres already in operation across AO’s fleet include the Giti GSR225 Combi Road steer axle tyre, and the Giti GDL617 drive axle tyre. The new, bespoke designed units run on size 215/75R17.5. They have a kerb weight of 15,000kg, with a gross vehicle weight of 39,000kg.
High performance GitiSynergyH2 tyre reaches European aftermarket
Giti Tire’s GitiSynergyH2 high performance tyre in now available on the European aftermarket. The tyre’s original equipment derivative has already secured several fitments with the Volkswagen Group. The tyre is initially available in 17 sizes between 15” and 18”, section widths 185-235, series sizes 50-65 and with speed indices T, H, V, W and Y. Aimed primarily at compact and family cars, crossover vehicles and small SUVs, a further 25 additional sizes will follow throughout the year. On the EU label, the GitiSynergyH2 is rated A in wet grip and A-C in rolling resistance.
AA-rated GitiSynergyH2 wins 1st Seat OE fitment for Giti Tire
SeatGiti Tire’s GitiSynergyH2 has won another European original equipment tyre fitment. The Seat Ateca will roll off production lines on the AA-rated size 225/55R17 97V. The news represents the manufacturer’s second VW Group passenger car OE selection in the last month following its fitment in the same size on the Skoda Karoq. The GitiSynergyH2 is also specified by Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles, selected in size 215/55R17 XL 98H and 205/60 R16 XL 96H for the VW Caddy 5, one of the best-selling commercial vehicles in Europe.
Giti launches GAU867v1 range, targeting electric buses
Giti Tire has updated its Giti GAU867v1 all-position urban bus tyre range. The manufacturer’s developed tyre is particularly targeting the growing electric bus market. It is manufactured to handle higher load and improve wear resistance. Giti has also added a new size to the range in the 265/70R19.5 143/141 J. The existing 275/70R22.5 size now has an updated load index of 152/148 J.
