Giti Tire grows 3PMSF-certified CV tyre portfolio

Giti Tire has continued to roll out its Combi Road compound technology with next generation Giti GDR655+ and GDR665+ drive patterns. Both tyres improve mileage by 30 per cent, and improved fuel efficiency by approximately 10 per cent versus the original tyres, Giti states.
Giti Tire has extended its exclusive distribution agreement with Micheldever Tyre Services (MTS) for its GT Radial and Runway brands for a further four years. The new deal, which runs until 2022, will continue to cover the passenger car, 4×4 and light truck tyre segments. Tyrepress understands that certain car and SUV sizes of Giti Tire’s eponymous Giti brand will continue to be available via Micheldever, where no equivalent GT Radial-branded tyre is currently available. The brand was first added to Micheldever’s inventory in 10 such sizes in 2018.
Giti Tire’s all-round passenger car tyres, the GT Radial Champiro FE1 and FE1 City have reached a major milestone. The tyres have sold two-and-a-half million units in Europe. The range has been on the market for four and a half years, with the original tyre joined by a model tuned to micro and supermini city cars in 2017.
Giti Tire will supply the GitiSynergyE1 in size 205/60R16 92H to the VW T-Cross. The T-Cross is built for the European market on the MQB-A0 small car platform in Pamplona, Spain alongside the Seat Arona Compact Crossover and VW Polo, for which the tyre manufacturer already supplies OE tyres in the same pattern.
Giti Tire has developed its GT Radial all-season product range, available in the UK from exclusive distributor Micheldever, off the back of an encouraging run of sales for its initial product for this growth market. Tyres & Accessories spoke to Brian McDermott, country manager UK for Giti Tire, to get the latest on how the manufacturer is shaping its range for the segment, which appears to have gained more of a footing in the UK than specialist winter tyres have previously managed.
Giti Tire has launched the GT Radial Maxmiler Ice, its first studdable van and light truck tyre for extreme European winter conditions, in five sizes – 195/70R15C, 185/75R16C, 205/65R16C, 215/65R16C, 235/65R16C. The range covers the majority of mass-market popular vehicles from the Citroen Berlingo and Toyota HiAce through to the Ford Transit and Mercedes Sprinter. Load indices range from 104/102 to 121/119.
Giti Tire is limbering up for “a sporty and enduring appearance” on 29 September as an official Main Sponsor of the BMW Berlin Marathon. The tyre maker is one of three Main Sponsors for this year’s event.
Five vehicles on the starting grid of the Nürburgring 24-Hour Race fit the GitiCompete GTR1 track tyres, including Giti Tire Motorsport, one of the 155 teams spread across 24 classes.
GT Radial is the new main sprint circuit sponsor at this weekend’s Power Maxed MotoFest Coventry 2019. During the UK’s largest urban motorsports festival weekend, the MotoFest Coventry track, created from the city’s ring road, will be named the GT Radial sprint circuit. As part of the sponsorship agreement, GT Radial will run its VW Fun Cup cars on the sprint circuit on both days of the festival weekend.
Giti Tire has launched the GT Radial Maxmiler AllSeason, a four-season tyre for the European van and light truck markets. Carrying the Three-Peak Mountain Snowflake (3PMSF) symbol of its sidewall, the product is initially available in 13 SKUs with 15C-16C” rims, section widths from 195-235 and series sizes from 65-75. Load indices range from 104-115.
For the third consecutive year, Giti Tire is bringing is truck tyre technology to the track. Its truck racing presence kicked off this year with an appearance at Brands Hatch Circuit over the Easter weekend.
Giti’s GTR955 Combi Road trailer tyre and Team Oliver Racing’s bonneted Volvo VNL race-prepared truck will be the highlights of the tyre manufacturer’s stand at The CV Show 2019 (Stand 4F55, 30 April – 2 May, NEC Birmingham).
Year-on-year growth in the SUV tyre segment has become something of a given in recent years. The popularity of this market segment has been a beacon for car-makers in Europe, as the number of new models in the last decade shows. In terms of tyres, this has meant increases in larger, higher value products, both in the original equipment and replacement markets, the results of which are analysed elsewhere in this section. Volume and value growth in the UK replacement market, at 10 and 15 per cent respectively, has been healthy again in the last year.
Giti Tire is follow the season in which it achieved its first podium finish, taking third place at Holland’s Circuit Zandvoort, by continuing its close involvement in the VW Fun Cup. It will mark its fourth year as official tyre partner in 2019. There are eight endurance races scheduled for 2019, lasting from three to eight hours with two to four drivers. Giti will also run its fully livered GT Radial car.
