Diamond Tire is the exclusive agent for Westlake tyres in Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Hungary and Slovenia since it was awarded distribution rights in the region by Chinese manufacturer Huangzhou ZhongCe Rubber Company in 2009. The company and its partners will exhibit the Westlake brand using their collective Westlake Central Europe Group moniker at Reifen Essen 2010 in Hall 6, Booth 124.

OTR tyre retreading specialists Rösler have reported that the company’s recent exhibit at Expomin, (12 – 16 April, Santiago, Chile) was “a full success.” Expomin, which is known as one of the leading mining shows in the world, expects to announce record numbers of visitors this year, which in Rösler’s case means “contacts from all around the world and promising business opportunities.” Rösler gave its 40.00R57 Schelkmann retread, brought all the way from Germany, centre stage at the show. The huge tyre was said to have attracted a significant amount of attention.
Denmark-based Genan Business & Development A/S, which purports to be the world’s largest tyre recycling company, has appointed Barry Stocker as sales director for UK and Ireland. According to the company the appointment took effect on 1 February 2010. At the time Stocker was president of the Tyre Recovery Association (TRA) and member of the UK Tyre Working Group, however Tyres & Accessories understands that the association has since appointed a new president and will shortly release a statement confirming this. Prior to joining Genan Stocker was commercial director for Murfitts Industries Ltd and spent most of his professional career within tyre recycling in the UK.
Despite the absence of some international visitors due to European flight restrictions, the Bauma 2010 show in Munich, Germany got underway on April 19. The specialist off-road and mining equipment exhibition has attracted a number of exhibitors from the tyre sector, including Bridgestone Europe, who has introduced a number of new sizes to its off-road ranges at Bauma.
Located in Beijing, Best Choice is a leading international tyre wholesaler in China having long term close cooperation with domestic manufacturers and overseas tyre distributors. In March, new passenger car registrations in the EU (excluding Cyprus and Malta) were 10.8 per cent higher than in the same month of 2009, according to ACEA figures. Over the first quarter of 2010 registrations rose by 9.2 per cent compared to the first three months of last year, yet were still 9.4 per cent lower than in the initial quarter of 2008. Most major European markets recovered ground in comparison with early 2009, reflecting the ongoing effect of government incentive programmes. The UK, for example, accounted for almost 400,000 new cars, or 26.6 per cent more than in 2009 – thereby becoming the largest EU market during the month. In contrast, Germany – which in 2009 had successfully boosted registrations through its own scrappage scheme – saw registrations in this post scheme month shrink 26.6 per cent to 294,375 units.
Danish recycling and separation technology company Recycling A/S has opened a new sales office in Düsseldorf and appointed Dieter Jerschl as sales manager for Germany, Austria and Switzerland. Dieter Jerschl joined Eldan on 1 April. In conjunction with company’s existing sales partner, Erich Niebuhr BmbH in Rheinland-Pfalz, Dieter Jerschl will coordinate all international sales activities in the Germany/Austria/Switzerland region.
Taiwan’s Federal Tyres will be exhibiting at the upcoming Reifen Essen Show, June 1-4 in Essen, Germany. Federal said its Essen booth will emphasize “environmental performance,” with its range of consumer tyres. Two new products – the Formosa AZ01 and the Terra eco tyre – will be introduced during the show, Federal said. Also on display will be Federal’s 595 RPM ultra-high performance tyre, Couragia FX SUV line, the Himalaya SUV studdable winter tyre, and a prototype of the 595 EVO run-flat. (Tire Review)
On Saturday 27 March 2010 Yokohama Europe GmbH opened the "Yokohama Store" at the Nurburgring in Germany, one of the most well-known racing circuits in Europe. President Osamu Mikami of Yokohama Europe GmbH and many representatives of local media were present at the opening ceremony on the 27th. Yokohama Rubber is the first Japanese tire manufacturer to open a directly managed shop at the circuit.
German based online tyre retailer Delticom, owner of the mytyres.co.uk portal, has reported revenues of 311.3 million euros in the 2009 financial year, a year-on-year increase of 20.2 per cent. During the reporting period the company’s EBIT increased 78.8 per cent to 29.4 million euros, and Delticom notes that, in relation to revenues, this corresponds to an EBIT margin of 9.4 per cent – exceeding the forecast of 7 per cent. Consolidated net income for 2009 was 20.2 million euros or 1.71 per euro share, up 72.4 per cent from the previous year.
