Replacement market debut for Potenza run-flat

For the first time, run-flat fitments have been added to Bridgestone’s replacement market portfolio in Japan. The first run-flat made available to aftermarket consumers in the tyre maker’s home market is the Potenza S001 RFT, introduced in four sizes on July 1. Run-flat variants of the Potenza S001 had their public debut at the Geneva Motor Show in March; according to Bridgestone, European replacement market customers will be able to purchase the Potenza S001 RFT as of August, with global market availability to follow.

New SUV Tyre Lasts 35 per cent Longer Than Any Competitor

Just over a year ago Michelin raised a few eyebrows when it claimed that its Primacy HP tyre lasted 25 per cent longer than any competitor. This year the French manufacturer has gone even further claiming that its latest 4×4/SUV orientated tyre lasts an average 35 per cent longer than any of its direct competitors in the premium range. Michelin also recently launched the latest Porsche Cayenne reference tyre, the Latitude Sport. The official launch of the tyres follows previews of both at the Geneva Motor Show at the beginning of March.

Geneva Debut for P Zero Club

The Geneva Motor Show has provided Pirelli with its first opportunity to show off its latest P Zero to the public. Only a month after its Dubai unveiling Pirelli’s new UHP tyre will feature on a number of cars on display, including the eagerly awaited Maserati Gran Turismo, which is making its global debut at the Geneva show.

Bridgestone Sponsors Geneva Motor Show 2006 Press Room

Bridgestone Europe, together with Fujitsu Siemens Computers, will co-sponsor the press room of the 2006 Geneva motor show (2-12 March). As ‘Official Press Sponsor’, Bridgestone will feature its logos and messages on prominent wall displays, signage and documentation in the press room. In addition, Bridgestone-uniformed staff will be on hand to assist journalists visiting the event. Last year Goodyear sponsored the exhibition’s press centre.

Yokohama Exhibits Advan at Geneva Show

Yokohama Rubber will show exhibit at the 75th Geneva Motor Show, highlighting the company’s Advan flagship brand. The company will exhibit a Gemballa Cayenne fitted with 22 inch Advan ST tyres emphasising its focus on high performance technology, according to a statement. Yokohama Rubber will also exhibit its safety support technologies at the show, including its Zero Pressure System, Support Ring Run-flat System, and tyre pressure monitoring system for passenger cars.

Goodyear Sponsors Geneva Motor Show

Goodyear will be the official press sponsor of the 75th Geneva International Auto Show, when it runs from 3 to 13 March. The manufacturer will use the sponsorship opportunity to increase recognition of the new name for its fail-safe, RunOnFlat technology. Last year Michelin was responsible for sponsoring this area of the show. Goodyear joins the likes of Eurosport, Yahoo Cars, Peugeot and Mazda, in supporting the event.

Challenge Bibendum Winner

An international jury of experts has named the Bertone-SKF Novanta as the winner of the 2002 Challenge Bibendum Award. Designed and built by Stile Bertone in Caprie, the Novanta is a working concept car, first shown at the Geneva Motor Show. Drive-by-wire technologies from aeronautics were developed in collaboration with SKF and conventional hydraulic and mechanical devices were replaced by intelligent electromagnetic systems, allowing extensive interior redesigning. The award was presented by Edouard Michelin.

New Flagship Tyre From Bridgestone

At the Geneva motor show, Bridgestone unveiled the Potenza S-03 Pole Position; its new flagship tyre for the super sports passenger car segment. Bridgestone says that the new tyre incorporates technology developed in the F1 arena. It replaces the S-02 series and will be on sale from April.

PAX To Be Offered As Option On Renault Scénic

It is expected to be confirmed at the Geneva Motor Show that Renault is to be the first manufacturer to offer Michelin’s PAX system as an option on a high-volume production vehicle – from the middle of this year, PAX will be available as an option on the Renault Scénic. The tyre on the PAX system will be called SPACITY, and a version of the Alpin winter tyre will be available later on in the year.
