The Carbon Clean engine decarbonising system has concluded 2017’s successful run of Mechanex shows with a new product launch for its affordable ‘DCS-16’ DPF cleaning system. The new system was introduced amongst a wealth of industry-renowned suppliers in attendance at the Sandown Park event.
Following the news that Tyre Bay Direct entered administration on 25 September, the company has announced that it is now part of Atlas Equipment. According to the company website, “After a short break in operations, Tyre Bay Direct is now fully operational and capable of meeting the usual needs of customers.”
TechMan, the management system built by an independent garage, has added ‘Time Assist’ to its developing solution suite.
The first of three key benefits is that Time Assist delivers OEM vehicle repair times from 118 vehicle manufacturers, 126,726 vehicle models and 41,295,893 repair operations.
TechMan advise having this data available within the system improves job creation and quotation accuracy, in turn boosting efficiency and profitability potential right from the outset.
“Time Assist also has the capability to increase quote times by pre-set percentages around parameters such as age of vehicle, according to the requirements of the garage manager,” said Leo Freebairn, TechMan’s National Sales Manager.
Preston-based independent workshop, Hardings Garage is one of the latest in a long line of garages to join the expanding network of EDT Automotive partner garages. Less than five weeks after EDT Automotive installed the multi award-winning engine decontamination machine and provided training for the technicians at Hardings Garage, owner Steven Cumming has already completed 16 treatments for his customers despite his early reservations about the technology.
Carbon Clean, the engine decarbonising system that works with tap water, has launched a new compact CC-14 machine to complement the existing CC-16 unit. Both machines use electrolysis-based cleaning technology to remove the carbon deposits in engines which can cause loss of power, increased fuel consumption and more wear to engine components.

The decarbonising and engine cleaning system debuted at Automechanika in Frankfurt last year and more recently drew crowds at the Commercial Vehicle Show in April.

The interactive concept has been designed to give technicians and business owners a real-world experience of its systems, emphasising the ability of smaller businesses to deliver quality Hunter and customer service levels or returns. The company will demonstrate live award winning equipment like the Hunter Elite TD wheel alignment system, in addition to launching the new Hunter Road Force Elite and Pro-Align TCLine tyre changer systems.
Kent based engine cleaning company EDT Automotive states that it has improved the performance of more than 12,000 cars in a year, having secured placement of its EDT machines in 45 more locations nationwide. The pay-as-you-go engine and auto transmission detox machines remove harmful deposits from inside the engine left behind in a standard oil change. EDT states this enhances drivability and a reduction in overall CO emissions.
Bartec Auto ID Limited (Bartec) has upgraded its PC software program, TPMS Desktop, but it remains free-of-charge to its 11,000 tyre and repair shop users. Bartec’s update includes referencing processes and technical information data, as well as new coverage of 2017 make-model-years of cars, TPMS sensors and vehicle relearn processes.

Replacing the oil in an automatic transmission is more difficult and has greater potential for errors than changing the motor oil. To make this work easier for workshops, the German motor oil and additive specialist Liqui Moly has developed a high-tech machine that can do more than just flush and replenish fluid: the Gear Tronic. It will be presented for the first time in the United Kingdom at Automechanika Birmingham from 6 to 8 June.
