Building a sustainable future

This month we face the latest Brexit deadline. The deadline Prime Minister Boris Johnson said he would rather “die in a ditch” than overshoot. However, as we go to press no-one knows if we will Brexit on this date; and if we do, what kind of Brexit it will be. We reported how automotive manufacturers and their suppliers have made their feelings known en masse here, but the broader truth is that the details of the subject remain a great unknown. So, let’s look to the future and how more businesses what to make their future an ecologically sustainable one.

Galgo named Socially Responsible Company for 8th straight year

Galgo has earned the distinction of being an ESR “Socially Responsible Company” for the eighth consecutive year. This award is given by the Mexican Center for Philanthropy (Cemefi) and the Alliance for Corporate Social Responsibly (AliaRSE) and is presented to organizations that are committed to engaging with and supporting social and environmental protection programs within their community.

Galgo opens new European distribution centre and headquarters

Mexico-based retreading material supplier Galgo Pre-Q Europe recently relocated its European headquarters to a larger distribution centre located in Willebroek, Belgium.

Six Galgo winter treads certified according to ECE – 109R Annex 10

Retreading

Galgo has extended its portfolio of pre-cure treads for winter use. The Mexican materials supplier reports that six additional winter tread patterns are now branded with the Snow Flake symbol. These “Winter Range” patterns are eligible for 3PMSF certification after passing the tests set out in ECE – 109R Annex 10 and thus demonstrating their increased grip and traction performance.

Galgo opens new European headquarters

Galgo has opened new European headquarters (including warehousing and offices) in order to expand the company’s retreading coverage and sales presence. This expansion takes the company from Tongeren to the Ghent-Antwerp-Brussels triangle in Belgium, close to inland Beverdonk and the Meerhout container terminal.

Galgo partners Mexican state in green initiative

Galgo is partnering with the Mexican Hidalgo State Government, and other industries located along the Tula-Tepeji corridor, in the National Environmental Audit Program, an effort help reduce and reverse the damage and negative environmental impacts in that area. The Tula-Tepeji corridor has been recognized as an area experiencing a high level of negative environmental impact pollution and requires action from the local industries to help reverse this situation.

Pre-Q Galgo launches super-single tread

Galgo, the Mexico-based tread rubber producer, has developed a super-single tread design. According to the company, the tread offers high mileage on highway applications for trailer axles, “providing the carrier a great savings in fuel consumption thanks to its low rolling resistance technology”.

Galgo Pre-Q gets SmartWay approval on second precure design

Galgo Pre-Q’s DP tread for use on Long-haul class-8 drive axle has been awarded SmartWay approval, the second time a Galgo tread has been accredited in his way. According to a company statement, this means the product meets the requirements of the SmartWay Technology programme that verifies low rolling resistance retreaded tyres which help reduce truck fuel consumption by at least 3%, according to the EPA. This programme is compliant with California Air Resources Board (CARB) as well.

Galgo Pre-Q gains US SmartWay accreditation

Mexican retreading materials supplier Galgo Group recently gained US SmartWay accreditation for one of its Pre-Q products. According to the company, Galgo has always shared the global vision to meet the highest quality standards in each market “And once again we achieved it with our United States Corporate ‘PREQ Galgo’”, company representatives said in a statement announcing the news.

Galgo installs new Banbury mixer at Tula, Mexico plant

Mexican supplier of rubber materials for retreading, Galgo has announced the installation of a new internal Farrel Banbury F270 mixer. The US-manufactured mixer will allow the company to obtain fully consistent blends with the better dispersion of carbon black in a quicker mixing time, according to the company. Galgo supplies Pre-Q treads, cushions in different forms, and extrusion and strips for a variety of rubber products for different uses and applications.
