Yokohama is celebrating the success of Chelsea FC in the UEFA Europa League, for which the tyre manufacturer is shirt sponsor. The club’s emphatic 4-1 win against London rivals Arsenal in Wednesday’s match in Baku, Azerbaijan gave Chelsea its sixth European trophy and its first with Yokohama’s name on its shirt. A global television audience, including free-to-air coverage in the UK, provided Yokohama with increased brand visibility, the company states.
Linglong Tire has signed an extension to its partnership agreement with VfL Wolfsburg, continuing as its “club of Champions” partner. Li Wei, vice present of Linglong Tire, attended the signing ceremony held by VfL Wolfsburg in Foshan China on 23 May, 2019. He said: “as an old friend of VfL Wolfsburg, Linglong is very glad to continue to cooperate with the club and give full play to the brand effect of both sides.”
During a ceremony held on 30 March to mark the start of work on its new tyre plant in Serbia, Linglong Tire announced its sponsorship of the country’s top football league, the Serbian SuperLiga. The signing of an agreement between the two parties was witnessed by Goran Knezevic, Serbia’s Minister of Economy, Sinisa Mali, Minister of Finance, Vanja Udovicic, director of Serbian Sports and Youth, Lazovic Dragomir, president of Serbian SuperLiga, Wang Feng, chairman of Linglong Tire, and other guests.
This year, Chelsea FC will play a pre-season match in Japan, an event sponsor Yokohama Rubber has previously requested. The tyre maker has now announced its support of the fixture, which is scheduled for 19 July – it intends to “work closely with Chelsea” while the team is in Japan to “bring Japanese fans closer to the ‘Blues’ ahead of the 2019/20 season.”
CST has extended its sponsorship of Dutch football club Ajax Amsterdam for a further three years until the end of the 2020-21 season. The Cheng Shin Tire brand’s connection to the club dates back to 2013, and their partnership was expanded two years later. The current arrangement sees CST represented by in-stadium advertisements, logos on the Ajax Amsterdam team bus as well as through diverse promotions and social media campaigns for CST car and bicycle tyres.
Ever since signing up as sponsor to Italy’s Serie B and the Coupe de la Ligue in France earlier this year, football has become not just a means of promoting the BKT brand name. The off-highway tyre specialist has also integrated the beautiful game into its charitable activities.
The partnership between Kumho Tire and Tottenham Hotspur FC that began in 2016 has been extended for a further three years from the start of the 2018/19 season. A new agreement covering this was signed yesterday afternoon at the football club’s training centre in the presence of executive director Donna-Maria Cullen and first-team players Heung-min Son, Victor Wanyama, Fernando Llorente and Kieran Trippier.
French football governing body Ligue de Football Professionnel (LFP) has announced its entry into a partnership with tyre maker BKT. The off-highway tyre specialist has become naming partner to the knockout championship Coupe de la Ligue (French League Cup) for the next six seasons. As of the round of 32, the Coupe de la Ligue will be known as the Coupe de la Ligue BKT.
Details of Hankook Tire’s sponsorship of Italian football club S.S.C. Napoli were announced during a press conference at the club’s home ground yesterday. Hankook Tire Italia will initially support the Serie A team from the 2018-19 season through to May 2020, and through this aims to expand brand awareness in Italy.
Tyre brand Falken has agreed a sponsorship deal with the successful, tradition-steeped Spanish football team Club Atlético de Madrid for the 2018/19 season. The Spanish club occupies second position in the UEFA ranking, they are the current champions of the UEFA Europa League, and have just won the UEFA Super Cup in Tallin, Estonia. Falken has extended its marketing via football sponsorships across Europe in the past few years, partnering with major clubs, such as Liverpool FC in the UK.
Under a new partnership, Hankook Tire has become a sponsor to Association Sportive de Monaco, runner-up in France’s top football league last season. The tyre maker’s partnership with AS Monaco FC will initially cover a two-year period and gives Hankook brand exposure at the club’s home ground, the Louis II stadium in Fontvieille, during Ligue 1 home matches as well as hospitality opportunities.

Upon kicking off its sponsorship of Manchester City FC for 2018/19, Nexen Tire states that it plans to continue utilising its relationship with last season’s Premier League champion throughout the game season to “expand its global loyal fan-base by increasing touchpoints for customers to directly engage and experience the Nexen Tire brand.” As was the case in 2017/18, Nexen will continue as official sleeve partner.
