As an official sponsor of this summer’s UEFA Euro 2016 tournament, Continental will continue positioning of its brand close to the top level of European football, a strategy that continues to prove successful, and popular with competitors. As part of its sponsorship package with the tournament, Conti will equip the transfer buses taking teams all over France to the ten host cities with its premium bus tyres, a feature previously seen at the Brazil-hosted World Cup in 2014, when Conti supplied a special edition ContiGol Urbino. In addition to the buses used by all 24 teams who have qualified, the specially designed Conti Goal HA3 tyres will also run on 20 VIP buses provided by selected private transport companies. Conti will use an exclusive special edition tyre for the tournament based on its Conti CityPlus HA3 tyre for regional transportation. The size 295/80R22.5 Conti Goal HA3 was developed in Germany by the manufacturer’s engineers, and can be fitted to any axle.

Sumitomo Rubber Industries has entered into a sponsorship agreement that makes its Falken brand the official tyre of all four 2015-16 season promotion/relegation playoff matches held by Germany’s Bundesliga football league. These matches take place between 19 and 24 May. The Falken brand will also be the official partner of the 2016 DFL-Supercup championship match between the Bundesliga league champion and the winner of the German Cup (DFB-Pokal) in August.
Toyo Tire (UK) Ltd. is celebrating its official sponsorship partner’s first Premier League Title. Leicester City FC’s confirmation as this year’s champions earlier this month has been widely recognised as an odds-defying event, and this is reflected in the latest chapter of Toyo Tires’ short-video series. Titled ‘Surprising the world – Only those who keep on driving can change the world’, the video was released globally this week and depicts the fierce determination of players such as Jamie Vardy and the passion of the club’s manager, Claudio Ranieri.
Korean portal BusinessKorea claims Hankook Tire has signed a sponsorship agreement with Real Madrid, with the deal personally led by company Cho Hyun-bum. The tyre maker has yet to confirm entering into a contract with the Spanish football club, and details of the alleged agreement are not yet known.
A key marketing component of Cooper Tire Europe’s sporting sponsorships has been its Precision Challenge videos. In two previous instalments, the tyre manufacturer challenged players from Arsenal, to whom Cooper is the Official Tyre partner, to hit targets made of tyres. In the third such challenge, Cooper brings together drivers from the World Rallycross Championship, for which it is the exclusive tyre supplier, and three more Arsenal stars to compete in another difficult test of accuracy.
Kenda Tires will be promoting its brand on LED perimeter boards within the stadiums of leading Italian Serie A football teams Fiorentina, Lazio Rome, Sampdoria Genua, Udinese Calcio and CFC Genua.
According to the contract with Serie A marketer Infront, Kenda’s advertising will be displayed on all four sides of the playing field. Advertising in Italy’s top league is expected to allow Kenda to reach not only the fans attending the matches, but also millions of TV viewers via SKY Italia Go, Mediaset Premium, and Italy’s biggest club channel, the Juventus channel.
On 21 March The Yokohama Rubber Co., Ltd., will be introducing John Terry, the captain of the Barclays Premier League Champions Chelsea Football Club, to Chinese football fans at an event in Shanghai. According to Yokohama, which is shirt sponsor of Chelsea, the event will feature a football clinic for local high school players, followed by a press conference and an interview/talk show with the Chelsea team captain.
Hankook Tire has extended its UEFA Europa League sponsorship by taking on patronage of the Europa League’s ‘Centre Circle Carrier’ pre-match ceremony. From the Round of 16 to the semi-finals, the company will provide children living in the participating clubs’ local areas the opportunity to take part in the centre circle flag-carrying ceremony held prior to kick-off.
Avon Tyres will become the Official Tyre of Everton Football Club in the Barclays Premier League 2016/17 season, with three other partnerships giving the brand exposure at every professional level of the sport in the UK. The brand joins its sister Cooper brand in football sponsorship, the latter having been the Official Tyre of Arsenal for the last two seasons.

Yokohama Rubber has announced its exhibition activities for the 2016 Geneva International Motor Show, with the manufacturer’s Chelsea FC sponsorship taking centre-stage. The BluEarth-A AE50 Chelsea FC Edition, which features the logo of the Barclay’s Premier League holders, will be presented with a personal appearance by current first-team manager, Guus Hiddink and Chelsea managing director Christian Purslow, who will conduct a Q&A session. In addition, the company’s Advan Sport V105 global flagship tyre will be featured.
Following the pre-launch of its first global TV campaign in December in 2015, Lassa Tyres’ main global TV ad campaign starts began airing during the weekend of 20-21 February 2016. Under the brand motto, “the tyre that never tires”, Lassa Tyres’ first global TV campaign aims to reinforce Lassa Tyres’ brand values, while also capitalising on its sponsorship links with FC Barcelona. Lassa’s 30 second ad campaign on Eurosport available is in more than 54 countries and lasts until May 2016.
In Milan, FC Internazionale, perhaps better known as Inter Milan, and Pirelli have confirmed that they are finalising an agreement for a five-year, long-term relationship regarding the football club’s shirt sponsorship deal. No details of the financial arrangements were given, except that the deal will include a fixed component and a variable one, based on the team’s sporting performance.
Prior to the weekend’s Super Bowl 50, Bridgestone Americas announced the extension of its National Football League sponsorship arrangement for a further five years and its continuation as the NFL’s official tyre. The new deal extends the tyre maker’s eight-year relationship with the NFL and advances its ‘Bridgestone Performance Moments’ campaign platform, which includes the award for top performance play of the year at NFL Honors during Super Bowl week.
Auto Expo 2016 will open to the public later this week. The exhibition, which takes place in Greater Noida, near New Delhi, is said to be Asia’s largest and the world’s second-largest motor show, and attracted more than 700,000 visitors last time round. Yokohama Rubber has confirmed its presence there as an exhibitor.
