A new, three-year contract sees Kwik Fit become sole supplier of tyres and associated products to SG Fleet UK. The arrangement covers more than 13,000 company cars and vans that SG Fleet UK currently has under management.
After participating in an eight-month trial, family-owned haulier Ronnie S Evans has signed its entire trailer fleet up to Michelin’s Effitrailer programme. Results suggest that the haulier saved £45,000 during the trial period.
As part of previously-announced structural changes, Continental has merged several of its replacement truck tyre functions in the Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) region. The Conti360° Fleet Services business, which includes ContiPressureCheck and ContiConnect, has been brought together with the ContiLifeCycle business, comprising retreading and casing management services, to form the Fleet Solutions department. Ralf Benack is heading up this department as Director Fleet Solutions.
Conti360° Fleet Services has opened its newly rebranded suite of offices, at Bandvulc’s Lee Mill site, in Ivybridge. The extended office facilities have been launched after a two and-a-half year integration project following Continental’s acquisition of Bandvulc in 2016. The launch follows the merger of both company’s fleet support networks under the unified Conti360° Fleet Services banner in September 2018, and the relocation of all Conti360° Fleet Services support and 24-hour Breakdown Service teams to Ivybridge.
X One Wholesale has fitted its fleet of delivery vehicles with Yokohama’s W*Drive WY01 winter tyre. The leading European logistics business, which guarantees its customers timed deliveries no matter the weather conditions, chose the winter tyre to ensure full mobility and safety this winter.
UK-based Eavesway Travel has specified Apollo Tyres’ Endurace range as fitment on 30 executive coaches in operation on the company’s Eavesway Cruiselink operation. With decades of experience in catering for cruise passengers, Eavesway Travel’s premier coach service offers transport to the main cruise providers from major towns and cities across the UK.
Bruce’s Coaches operates some of National Express’s longest routes between Scotland and the south of England, with 14 Scania Caetano Levante coaches, which cover more than 5.6 million kilometres each year. The company recently moved this fleet to Michelin tyres and has reported some startling statistics; it says the brand’s drive axle tyres last up to 130,000km further compared to the previously fitted competitor brand.
UK technology company Wheely-Safe has launched ‘Michelin Wheel Security and Tyre Pressure Management System Heavy Fleet’, a solution aimed at truck, bus, coach, trailer and heavy plant operators and designed to tackle the issues of wheel loss and brake and hub overheating. Wheely-Safe says this patented solution is the world’s first in-motion driver alert system that detects the onset of wheel loss before detachment; it also warns the driver of potential brake or hub issues that could lead to a fire if unchecked, as well as tyre over- or under-inflation.
Following a successful trial period, UK-based car transporter company Carlson Vehicle Transfer has rolled out Michelin’s Effitrailer package across its 150-strong fleet. The Groupe CAT company, which operates throughout the UK and Europe delivering cars for the automotive industry, tested the telematics system on a number of units in its car transporter trailer fleet.
Commercial vehicle contract hire, rental, and maintenance firm Ryder has renewed its strategic partnership with Bridgestone for a further three years.
Construction and property maintenance specialist Princebuild is rolling out Michelin’s CrossClimate+ and Agilis CrossClimate tyres across its entire fleet of 180 cars and vans. The move will ensure its vehicles benefit from traction all year round; the Peterborough-based company made the decision to switch after a meeting with Michelin showed the statistics and improved safety its CrossClimate range of tyres could offer.
Buckinghamshire-based distributor Tomato Tyres has entered into an agreement to supply specialist aviation logistics company Comet Car Hire (CCH) with the new for 2018 Yokohama BluEarth-Van RY55 tyre for its fleet of Mercedes vans, minibuses and people carriers.
In the more than two years since Continental Tyre Group acquired Bandvulc, both the Conti360° Fleet Services network and the Bandvulc Plus+ fleet services continued to run in parallel, with customers receiving services from both brands. This will now change – Continental Tyre has announced the merger of Conti360° and Bandvulc Plus+. The two operations will unite as Conti360° Fleet Services, with Bandvulc’s key partners joining Continental’s current Conti360° Fleet Services.
What brand of tyres does a tyre distributor use on its own fleet? In the case of Stapleton’s Tyre Services, the answer is Michelin. The company began trialling Michelin Agilis CrossClimate tyres across 25 Renault Master vans in March, and determined it could be clocking up an extra 20,000 miles per set compared to its existing policy.
The first update made to the ContiConnect digital tyre monitoring platform has gone live. Continental has added further functions to the web portal and refreshed its look. The new features also link ContiConnect services directly with fleet operations, enabling digital monitoring data to be used during tyre maintenance.
