Federal Corporation reports that production at its main factory in Chungli, Taiwan has been halted due to a fire at the site on 17 January. Warehouse facilities were damaged during the blaze, however the Chungli plant’s manufacturing facilities were unaffected and Federal confirms there were no casualties.

Michelin Lifestyle’s new Car Care Range will now be available nationwide from mid-April. The company had originally planned to launch the range by the end of March, but a warehouse fire at the products’ manufacturer delayed this.
A serious warehouse fire has delayed the launch of Michelin Lifestyle’s new Car Care Range in the UK. The products were due to be fully rolled out by the end of this month, however Tyres & Accessories understands that the factory/warehouse that was storing the products has suffered a fire and the majority of the products were destroyed. Company representatives explained: “The Car Care products are still due to launch across Asda stores nationwide, but as a result of this unfortunate event it will not be by the end of this month as planned.”
Fire investigators from the West Midlands Fire Service have determined the cause of the blaze at Goodyear Dunlop’s UK headquarters on 18 February. It appears that the fire was caused by a “large electrical appliance”; the appliance has now been sent away for further testing.

Goodyear Dunlop’s UK headquarters at Tyre Fort in Birmingham have been damaged by fire. According to West Midlands Fire Service, a fire broke out at the Wingfoot Way site yesterday evening and spread through the building’s ventilation system. Crews were called to the scene just after 7pm. The Fire Service announced shortly before midnight that the fire had been extinguished.

According to local news sources, Shandong Linglong Tyre Co. Ltd’s consumer tyre factory in Thailand has been badly damaged by fire. Six of the 15 warehouses at the LLIT Thailand facility in Chonburi province are said to have been destroyed in the blaze, which began on 1 February have allegedly caused an estimated US$40 million of damage. The manufacturing facility at the site has been temporarily closed.
Hankook Tire’s Daejeon South Korea factory has suffered a fire, the company confirmed on 1 October. The fire is not expected to disrupt production since the damage is mostly to its warehouse. However a fifth of the warehouse has reportedly been lost along with some 180,000 tyres. According to local news reports, the warehouse held products destined for both domestic and overseas markets.
The latest so-called “WISH” Proposals for the storage of waste tyres would decimate the important UK retreading industry if adopted in their current form. That’s the view of Patrick O’Connell, president of the Britain’s Retread Manufactures Association (RMA) and MD of Bandvulc Tyres one of Europe’s largest independent tyre retreading businesses, who stated: “This ‘WISH’ document has been developed without any consultation whatsoever with Britain’s retreaders.”
Proposals by the ESA-led ‘WISH’ group have been branded counter-intuitive and arrogant by Britain’s Tyre Recovery Association (TRA) whose members handle more than three quarters of the country’s end-of-life tyre arisings. Commenting further on the proposals, TRA secretary general Peter Taylor OBE called the impression given by WISH that its consultation document was the result of wide ranging consultation to be wholly disingenuous.
A fire at the Bridgestone Americas plant in Wilson, North Carolina, USA. According to news reports emanating from US trade magazine Tire Review, the fire forced the evacuation of hundreds of employees on Saturday 28 June 2014.
Cooper Tire executives have confirmed that reports of a fire at the company’s Cooper Chengshan (Shandong)Tire Company Ltd. (CCT) manufacturing plant in Rongcheng, China were correct. As far as the details are concerned, writing in an official statement Cooper Tire officials confirmed that the fire took place on 28 May outside of the factory site proper. According to the company, there were no injuries and “minimal damage to property”.
At the time photographs of the fire were published alongside local Chinese reports, however these provided no details of what damage the fire caused or where it actually took place. Cooper has now explained that “the fire involved a scrap tyre area outside the main manufacturing plant structure”. As a result production was temporarily suspended. It has now returned to normal.
