The third-generation Subaru Crosstrek went on sale in Japan in December 2022, and Sumitomo Rubber Industries shares that it is supplying its Falken Ziex ZE001 A/S as an original equipment tyre. The Crosstrek will wear the all-season Falken tyre in size 225/55R18 98V.
Bettina Feldmann has left Goodyear Germany to take on a new role at Falken Tyre Europe. The Japanese manufacturer has appointed Feldmann chief operations officer of its European business, succeeding Markus Bögner in this position. Falken Tyre Europe is set to be an Official IHF Men’s World Championship 2023 Partner for the upcoming tournament which is taking place at nine venues in Sweden and Poland from January 11th to 29th. The partnership was organised by the sports marketing agency Sportfive, which is responsible for exclusive marketing and media rights for all IHF World Championships until 2031.
From 25 November Falken Tyre Europe GmbH is participating in raising awareness for “Orange Day”, the internationally-recognized 16-day campaign “for the elimination of violence against women and girls” that runs until 10 December. To give “Orange Day” visibility at Falken’s Offenbach City Tower headquarters in Germany, the usual evening lighting in the foyer will be switched off from 5pm to 10pm. In its place, energy-saving LED lights will illuminate the space in orange.
Sumitomo Rubber Industries has provided an update on research undertaken together with two partners, reporting they have “shed new light on the mysteries” surrounding the rubber vulcanisation process in tyre production. This knowledge may help the Falken brand manufacturer “further improve overall tyre performance” in future.

Falken’s latest cold weather tyre offering is set to make its UK market debut this winter in September. Two specifications will be available: the Eurowinter HS02 and HS02 Pro. Both tyres represent the next generation of Falken’s cold-weather range. They offer significant improvements over their predecessor, the HS01, according to the manufacturer.
The Yaris Cross GR Sport, a tweaked version of Toyota’s small crossover, launched in Japan this month and rides on Falken Azenis FK510 SUV tyres as standard. Sumitomo Rubber Industries is supplying the tyre as original equipment in size 215/50R18 92V.

Bridgestone’s newest ultra-high performance tyre, the Potenza Sport offered the best results in wet and dry performance in the latest Auto Express tyre test. The tyre was able to make the most of its home field advantage as the magazine used Bridgestone’s Aprilla proving ground, just besting Goodyear’s Eagle F1 Asymmetric 6 by 0.5 per cent. Another notable result was the third-place finish of the Maxxis Victra Sport 5, which adds to a growing list of test successes proving that the brand is increasingly able to hold its own against the traditional premium brands. The test was conducted on the biggest selling 18” tyre size, 225/40R18 92Y. This UHP tyre test of seven products was split from the “UUHP mini test” of three of the highest-performing road tyre products, won by the new Continental SportContact 7. For the UHP test, Auto Express weighted its results to reflect UK driving needs: wet tests counted for 50 per cent of the final mark, dry 40 per cent, and the remaining 10 per cent on noise, fuel economy and price.
