Falken has expanded its winter tyre portfolio with SUV models for the Eurowinter HS01 range are now available under the name of Eurowinter HS01 SUV. They have been developed to deliver improved directional stability, aquaplaning resistance and better grip in wet, icy and snowy conditions.
Falken has returned to the Nürburgring podium at the 40th RCM DMV Grenzlandrennen, with the tyre brand’s Falken Motorsport team’s Porsche 911 GT3 R, driven by Martin Ragginger and Klaus Bachler following up victory for the BMW in July. In changeable weather conditions familiar to the Eifel region Ragginger/Bachler brought the Porsche over the line in third place at the second VLN Endurance Championship race of the season at the circuit.
Looking back on one of the major events in its calendar, Falken has posted a video reviewing its participation in the 2017 Nürburgring 24 Hours. The Sumitomo Rubber Industries brand expanded its entry at this year’s event with a new BMW M6 joining the Falken Motorsports Porsche 911.
In addition to becoming a Liverpool FC partner, this season the Falken tyre brand is boosting its football sponsorship activities across Europe. Liverpool FC has a new global partner and official tyre partner. Following the end of its arrangement with Maxxis, which began in 2009 and concluded at the end of the 2016/17 season, the club has entered into a multi-year collaboration with Falken Tyre.
Spanish car maker Seat has selected three Falken tyres as original equipment for its fifth-generation Ibiza. From June, the list of approved tyres the new model will roll out of the factory on includes a size 215/45R17 91W XL version of the flagship Azenis FK453 range, a 195/55R16 91V XL Ziex ZE914A dimension and, for 14- and 15-inch rim diameters, the Sincera SN832A in sizes 185/70R14 88H and 185/65R15 88H.
Who needs paint when you’ve got Falken tyres? From behind the wheel of a 421-hp Ford Mustang, Falken test driver Michael Stenten has elevated drifting to an art form of an entirely different kind. The result of his efforts enjoyed their public debut earlier this month.
Falken tyres are being supplied as original equipment to the Nissan Rogue Sport in North America, reports Sumitomo Rubber Industries. The Falken Sincera SN250A A/S is being shipped in size 215/60R17 96H for fitment on the compact crossover SUV. Nissan Motor Corporation’s flagship SUV, the Rogue, is also fitted with Falken tyres as factory standard.
Falken Motorsport achieved eighth place overall at the 45th ADAC Zurich Nürburgring 24h race with its new BMW M6 GT3. The Sumitomo global brand’s motorsport division makes the race one of the flagship events in its promotional calendar, and added a second car to its team for the 2017 edition. Falken’s newest addition, competing at the endurance race for the first time in the company’s colours, was the third-best BMW home after a collision on Saturday evening led to the retirement of its Porsche 911 GT3 after completing just 26 laps.
Falken tyres are being supplied as original equipment to the latest Volkswagen Touran. The Falken Ziex ZE914A Ecorun will be fitted on the Touran in size 205/60 R16 96V XL.
From this spring, the Falken Azenis FK510 will be available in 66 sizes compared to the previous 51.
“Our addition of 56 new sizes to the Azenis FK510 range reflects the continuing popularity of our UHP tyres,” says Andreas Giese, Manager Corporate Planning at Falken Tyre Europe, about the portfolio expansion.
Falken has launched its new Ecorun A-A, a new summer tyre with optimised rolling resistance. The tyre offers fuel-saving design features and good braking distance in wet conditions – its name is derived from its double-A rating on the EU tyre label, having achieved class topping fuel efficiency and wet grip. Falken will roll out the tyre with an exclusive Toyota Germany partnership in April.
Falken will line up on the Nürburgring Nordschliefe grid with two premium German racing cars for the first time, adding a BMW M6 GT3 to the Porsche 911 GT3 R (Type 991), which debuted at the 2016 event. Falken’s Porsche was the fastest in the 24 hour race, finishing in ninth place overall. Falken will enter both cars in various VLN endurance races as well as the Green Hell event; the team says competing with two different but current GT3 vehicle marques is unusual, but confirms the depth of experience of Falken’s tyre engineers and the wide-ranging performance of the tyres. Falken’s long-term partner, Schnabl Engineering, will supervise and support the two vehicles throughout the season.
