An award-winning AA accredited automotive centre in Cheadle, Staffordshire and Falken Tyres specialist dealer, AA Silencers has hosted an official UK visit from sixth largest global tyre manufacturer Sumitomo Rubber Industries Ltd (SRI), parent company of Falken. The SRI delegation visited the centre as part of an official UK trip with Micheldever Tyre Services. The visit included a tour of their premises, a meet and greet with staff, and the opportunity to discuss the impact the Falken brand has had upon AA Silencers business and their growing customer base.
Official Global Tyre Partner to Liverpool Football Club, Falken Tyres, has launched a new global campaign featuring LFC first team players Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Dominic Solanke, Trent Alexander-Arnold and Joe Gomez. The players help bring to life its global strapline ‘On The Pulse’ through the making of a unique music track.
The Falken brand has signed on as an official sponsor of the 24-Hour Race Nürburgring, which takes place between 10 and 13 May. This promotion of Falken during the event will take place in addition to Team Falken Motorsports’ race participation with two vehicles, its Porsche 911 GT3R and the BMW M6 GT3.
Falken will contest its 20th season at the 2018 Nürburgring 24-Hour Race and subsequent VLN Endurance Championship. The Falken Motorsports driver line-up, which has been altered for 2018, are competing in its two GT3 cars, the Porsche 911 GT3 and BMW M6 GT3. Falken has also produced a video to mark the occasion of two decades on the Nordschleife “Green Hell”.
Falken Tyre will launch three new tyre models for three distinct applications from its stand (Hall 7, Area A) at The Tire Cologne (29 May – 1 June). The new tyres are the Euroall Season AS210 car tyre, the Euroall Season VAN11 for light trucks and vans, and the Wildpeak M/T01 4×4 tyre for off-road use.
Falken drift driver and 2017 Formula Drift champion James Deane returns to the defend his title crown this week at the opening round of Formula Drift (6-7 April 2018, Long Beach, California). The Irish driver will race for the Worthouse Drift Team in his Falken Tire Nissan S15 drift car. He steered the car to four victories during the 2017 season, which led to his championship title and Falken being named Tire Manufacturer Champion for the second consecutive year.
Falken Tyre Europe is expanding its portfolio of truck tyres, adding new sizes to its already proven GI388 for regional transport and construction-site use, introducing new high-load versions for the RI151 bus tyre and the SI011 winter truck tyre. The brand is boosting the load index of its steer axle tyres for regional use, as well as introducing high-load and XL width versions in response to market demand. These high-load tyre models have replaced their normal load index predecessors to minimise confusion and the need for duplicate stocking.

Consumers are increasingly likely to research their tyres online pre-purchase, regardless of whether they complete an e-commerce transaction. Peer review website Tyre Reviews has therefore become an influential destination in the car tyre market: discussing Tyre Reviews’s audience, owner, Jonathan Benson, states that 94 per cent of Tyre Reviews visitors are engaged in the tyre buying process, with its users predominantly “high earning, well educated, male automotive enthusiasts looking for the best possible product for their vehicle.” In 2017, the site delivered 25 million pageviews to tyre buyers, and claims to have influenced around “one-sixth of UK tyre sales.”

Another North American market original equipment approval for Sumitomo Rubber Industries: The Falken Wildpeak A/T AT3WA has been selected by Fiat Chrysler Automobiles as a factory-fitted option for the all-new 2019 Ram 1500 pickup truck. According to Sumitomo Rubber North America, Inc., the Wildpeak A/T will be supplied for mounting on the Ram 1500 in sizes LT275/65R18 (113/110S) and 275/55R20 (113T).
Micheldever Tyre Services (MTS) has begun 2018 with the launch of new tyre products into its distribution line-up, with plans to grow the product lines throughout the year. As well as a new Falken tyre, the wholesaler will commence the distribution of the Sumitomo brand, as discussed with Tyres & Accessories in December, with the BC100 pattern.
The current Red Bull Air Race World Champion and Falken-supported athlete, Yoshihide Muroya continued his run of success by securing second place in the first race of the 2018 season, held in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. For the fourth consecutive year Falken is sponsoring the Red Bull Air Race pilot as he competes in the fastest motorsport in the world.
Mitsuteru Tanigawa has become the new CEO of Falken Tyre Europe. Tanigawa (61), replaces Masatsugu Nishino, who has moved to Turkey to head up Sumitomo Rubber Industries’ manufacturing facility.
This year, the Falken tyre brand will serve as presenting partner for the Audi Nines, an annual invitational for some of the world’s best Skicross and Snowboardcross athletes. In 2018, the event comes to Sölden, Austria for the first time and will be held on 14 April.
