Falken celebrates ‘most successful’ VLN season
Falken Tyres experienced its most successful VLN Endurance Championship season in 2018, securing seven podium finishes including two race victories, as its Porsche 911 GT3 R beat its competitors around the Nordschleife. The Type 991 has been the most successful Falken race car in the VLN to date, claiming two wins and nine podium finishes since its racing debut in April 2016. A reliable competitor, it has completed more than 30,000 racing kilometres overseen by Falken’s engineers.
EU names Fiege as an Open Innovation Challenger
Startup Europe Partnership (SEP), an initiative of the European Commission, has distinguished Fiege – which has developed a tyre logistics specialism during the last 10 years – as an Open Innovation Challenger. 24 corporate partners are listed in this annual ranking, including multinationals like Amazon, Dell or Google.
Walsall Wood Tyre & Service hosts tyre safety event
Falken Tyre specialist retailer Walsall Wood Tyre & Service has hosted a tyre safety event as part of TyreSafe’s National Tyre Safety month in October 2018. The event was jointly hosted by leading wholesaler and exclusive Falken distributor Micheldever Tyre Services (MTS) with more than 30 guests in attendance throughout the evening.

Conti seals hat-trick in Auto Express winter tyre test reflecting British climate
Continental’s WinterContact TS 860 has won its third consecutive Auto Express winter tyre test. The tyre beat strong competition from major manufacturers, most notably Hankook, whose Winter i*cept RS2 received a “commended” rating in second place, in a test tweaked this year “to better reflect UK driving conditions”. Outside the winter tyre competition, Auto Express also commented that the all-season control tyre, the Michelin CrossClimate+, not only finished close to the top in dry and wet tests, but was also only behind Hankook’s star performer in the snow – a result Auto Express described as “remarkable”.

Falken Motorsports has become the first team to supply a set of test tyres for the new Porsche 911 GT3 R on the Nürburgring.
Falken expands size options of Auto Bild top-ten rated winter tyre, Eurowinter HS01
Falken has expanded the size range of the Eurowinter HS01 winter tyre in both passenger car and SUV versions. From a previous range of 66 sizes, 99 sizes are now available in the Eurowinter HS01 tyre, spanning the most popular applications. The SUV model, the Eurowinter HS01 SUV, is now available in 39 different sizes. The expansion to the range coincides with Auto Bild’s top-ten verdict and overall rating of ‘Good’ for the tyre in its 2018 winter tyre test.
Subaru approves Falken Ziex for new Forester
Sumitomo Rubber Industries has begun supplying its Falken Ziex ZE001 A/S to Subaru Corporation as an original equipment tyre for its new Forester, which goes on sale this autumn. The Forester will be available with a factory-fitted size 225/55R18 98H version of the Ziex ZE001 A/S in North American and Chinese markets.
Falken expands Eurowinter HS01, HS01 SUV ranges
The range of Falken Eurowinter HS01 tyres available for the coming winter has grown by a half. Falken Tyre Europe shares that a total of 99 dimensions in 13- to 20-inch rim diameters will be offered, up from 66 and covering most widely-used sizes. The Eurowinter HS01 SUV, introduced a year after the April 2016-launched car range and previously available in ten sizes, is growing to 39 sizes for winter 2018-19.
Falken adds Wildpeak M/T to its European off-road range
Falken Tyre has recently expanded its off-road offering with the new Wildpeak M/T model. First shown in May at Tire Cologne in Cologne, Germany, the new tyre is designed for 4×4 and SUV use with the ability to cope with the toughest off-road conditions.
Auto Solutions displays General, Falken with MTS support at Royal Agricultural Manx Show
Isle of Man’s Auto Solutions Ltd has exhibited at the 114th Royal Agricultural Manx Show. The company is the island’s only distributor of General Tire and Falken Tyre, supplied exclusively by Micheldever Tyre Services, and the wholesaler took the show as an opportunity to show its commitment to support their customers in increasing their customer footfall through sales and marketing activity. A specialist team from MTS attended to assist with the Auto Solutions exhibition stand. The event, which gained royal patronage in 1951 attracted more than 20,000 visitors and hosted over 156 exhibitors over the two-day show.
Falken sponsors Atlético de Madrid
Tyre brand Falken has agreed a sponsorship deal with the successful, tradition-steeped Spanish football team Club Atlético de Madrid for the 2018/19 season. The Spanish club occupies second position in the UEFA ranking, they are the current champions of the UEFA Europa League, and have just won the UEFA Super Cup in Tallin, Estonia. Falken has extended its marketing via football sponsorships across Europe in the past few years, partnering with major clubs, such as Liverpool FC in the UK.
First VLN 1-2 victory for Falken
Falken Tyre Europe says 1 September 2018 will go down in the annals of Falken Motorsports after it celebrated a double win at the Nürburgring – the first in its almost 20 years of VLN participation. The 1-2 finish saw Martin Ragginger and Klaus Bachler dominate the sixth round of the VLN Endurance Championship and win for the first time in the Porsche 911 GT3 R, ahead of Falken team colleagues Stef Dusseldorp and Alexandre Imperatori in the BMW M6 GT3.
Falken extends European football sponsorships
The Falken tyre brand is extending its commitment to top class European football, and for the current season has commenced new partnerships with clubs in Germany, Spain, the Netherlands and Sweden in addition to its existing engagements.
