The Tires & Rubber 2020 exhibition in Moscow has been rescheduled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Organiser Expocentre reports that the decision not to go ahead with the show between 24 and 27 April was taken after restrictions were announced by federal and city authorities.
In light of the news that Koelnmesse took the decision to delay The Tire Cologne until 2021, Tyres & Accessories interviewed communications manager, Voelker de Cloedt in order to find out more about the thinking behind the move as well as the particular dates the company has chosen. The conversation began with a question about the nature of physical exhibitions in light of analysts reports suggesting we could be witnessing to transition of the sector to virtual shows.
The organisers of the CV Show have canceled the 2020 exhibition, which was due to take place at the NEC in Birmingham in April. Writing in an official statement published online, company representatives said:
Although Angela Merkel predicted this week that up to 70 per cent of all Germans could catch coronavirus, people there are responding to the risk in very different ways. This can be clearly seen in plans for two automotive shows.
According to the latest information on its website, preparations for The Tire Cologne “are continuing as planned according to the current status for the determined date.” But the tyre trade show has been dealt a further blow in addition to restrictions on large gatherings that were announced yesterday. One of the largest names in the tyre industry has decided against exhibiting due to the risk posed by coronavirus.

Tarsus Group has acquired the TyreXpo series of events from Singapore-based organiser, SingEx. According to the company, the acquisition adds “a complementary brand to the automotive events in the Tarsus portfolio and gives the group access to an adjacent market”. The second edition of the Tire+ exhibition, organised by China United Rubber Company, got underway today in Guangzhou, Guangdong Province China at the world-famous Canton show ground. The show runs in parallel with the large-scale Guangzhou Autoshow (itself a top three automotive event in China) as well as the China Essen Motor Show and continues until 19 November.
Today the Reifen show opens its door for the 30th time, and for first time ever the tyre trade fair is taking place outside of Essen (Germany). Reifen has relocated to Frankfurt and Automechanika, and this year’s new-format show has attracted around 160 exhibitors.
