Motor World has confirmed that it will join other exhibitors at next year’s Aftermarket Show. The company’s attendance guarantees the presence of a product range including car parts and accessories for the performance car markets, audio, in-car vision, navigation, styling, alloys and tyres.
Organisers have confirmed that exhibitor space sales for the combined 2005 Automotive Trade Show and the CV Show, are already well ahead of what the 2004 figures were this time last year.
The SOE, RHA and SMMT, which comprise the CV Show Partnership, claim that the combination is attracting a lot of interest following the success of this year’s event and that over 30 per cent of ATS exhibitors have already re-booked for 2005.
Crypton Technology Group is one of those companies, which has chosen to exhibit again next year. Walt Koloska, group sales and marketing director of the company comments: “After so many years of asking for a combination of ATS and the CV Show, this year’s event proved the value of listening to the market. The Crypton Group stand is a healthy 25 per cent larger than this year and will feature technology leading kit for all vehicle types.”
According to organisers, the show, which is effectively two trade exhibitions in one, had its most successful year in 2004, with a combined total of almost 29,000 visitors and 600 exhibitors.
Robin Dickeson, spokesman for the event, added: “The event has grown in recent years, which is testimony to the fact that it is delivering real value to exhibitors and their customers. Visitors can meet and do business with a huge variety of existing and potential suppliers under one roof, in a very short space of time, something that is of enormous value in these busy times.” cma
All exhibition space at the 37th Essen Motor Show is booked out, say the organisers. From 26 November to 5 December, 2004, 570 companies from 19 different countries will present their latest innovations. In keeping with the exhibition’s motto “Formel Fun,“ the organisers want to bring visitors’ fascination with cars to life. One of the biggest and most influential passenger car exhibitions this year, the show is expected to attract more than 400,000 visitors. Several new models are expected to make their debut. In addition, the tuning sector of the industry will display many new products on its exhibition stands.
The organisers of last year’s CITEXPO, China’s International Tire Expo, were so satisfied with the results of the Shanghai show, that they have promised the second exhibition to be even bigger and better.
The CITEXPO is already the biggest international tyre exhibition in China and has attracted numerous international exhibitors and visitors from over 40 countries, including many European countries.
The exhibition will again take place in the Shanghai East Asia Exhibition Center, from 22-24 September this year. The organisers, from Reliable International Exhibition Services, Hong Kong, are aiming to make the exhibition “one of the biggest and most famous tyre exhibitions in the world.” To achieve this they will focus not only on players from the domestic Chinese tyre market, but also on the global marketplace bringing manufacturers, distributors, dealers, retailers, buyers, professionals, and other interested parties together in one venue.
The 8th Moscow international specialised exhibition for the tyre and rubber industry will take place at the Expocentre, Moscow from the 1st to the 4th of February 2005. With analysts predicting an annual growth rate of between 15 and 20 percent over the next 4 years the Russian tyre market presents fertile ground for investment and commercial evelopment. This show serves as a shop window and offers a meeting forum for Russian and international companies.

The Aftermarket Show returns to the NEC from 13-16 January 2005. Organiser Haymarket Exhibitions says the event will give a high profile to suppliers from the tyre, wheel, accessory, consumables, parts, electrics and garage equipment sectors.
Last January’s inaugural show attracted more than 24,500 dedicated trade visitors, part of a combined total of 91,000 business and motorsport enthusiasts who visited the show and sister attraction Autosport International.
The Tyre Industry Council (TIC) will again sponsor the tyre sector of the show, which will aim to attract interest from a broad cross section of manufacturers, wholesalers, equipment and services suppliers. Dutch manufacturer Vredestein has already confirmed its return in 2005.
TIC secretary Peter Taylor said: “We are working with Haymarket to develop a number of innovative concepts that will appeal to specific sectors of the industry. The response to the first show in January was very encouraging, which makes 2005 a real opportunity to create an exhibition that delivers something new, exciting and valuable to the trade.”

ECI International, the organisers of the Tyrexpo Asia series of exhibitions, has acquired the Brityrex name and is launching a new show for the UK, called Brityrex International 2005. The show will take place at the Harrogate International Centre from 10-12 May 2005. Paul Farrant and Rowena Suthers of ECI were the original team behind Brityrex when it was owned and organised by Tyre Exhibitions and they believe that there is a place for a dedicated event for the UK tyre industry, hence the launch of Brityrex International, described by ECI as “an independent, cost-effective, no frills trade exhibition.”
In view of what has been happening in the fastidious world of tyre shows recently, it is refreshing to report on a successful venture. Of the four Asian tyre exhibitions to date, the Tyrexpo held in Singapore 17th-19th February was by far the best and, bearing in mind the various difficulties necessitating the postponement for six months because of the SARS outbreak, a triumphant achievement for the organisers ECI International. The show had a very strong international attendance both from an exhibitor and visitor perspective. A total attendance of close-on 3,000 from over 60 countries far exceeded most exhibitors expectations. The buying and negotiating power of visitors was also favourably commented on. Those seeking new technology were not disappointed and there were also a number of innovative products on show. The next Tyrexpo Asia will be from the 13th to 15th September 2005 and ECI advised us that many of the exhibitors from this year’s show have already rebooked stands. The “Tyre World” exhibition, due to be held in London in November, has been postponed until further notice. Buzz Carter, managing director of organisers, IDEX Exhibitions Ltd., said that the decision was taken primarily due to the hesitation of certain UK companies in making a commitment to the show. However, he believes that an exhibition remains an excellent medium for doing business and said that the industry must decide what form of event it will support and, to this end, IDEX will establish a consultative group to work with the industry to shape the future of industry events.
The tyre fair “Reifen 2002” in Essen has suffered another serious blow. Following Michelin’s pull-out, Bridgestone/Firestone has also cancelled its participation. Other tyre makers told our magazine unofficially that the large number of house exhibitions is placing too great a burden on budgets.
Tyrexpo Asia 2001, to be held at the Singapore Expo Centre from 11 – 13 September, is the third Tyrexpo Asia to be held in Singapore. Although the name is the same, the exhibition has changed hands since the last show in 1998, but there is still a measure of continuity as the MD of the new organisers, ECI Ltd, is Paul Farrant, who was a director of previous organisers Labelex Exhibitions. And of course this show, like the first two, is being sponsored by TYRES & ACCESSORIES and German sister magazine NEUE REIFENZEITUNG. In reality, “the Asian market” is a collection of individual markets, each with varying degrees of potential. This has been recognised by others, and we have seen a number of exhibitions, loosely connected with the tyre industry in specific markets over previous years. In many cases, tyres and related equipment and services have been added on as something of an afterthought. Not so Tyrexpo Asia, which Paul Farrant describes as “the only show in the area dedicated to the tyre industry, and the one which is the best-established and which has built up a solid reputation.” The first show was held at a time of great optimism, with the phrase “Asian tiger economies” on everybody’s lips. What a difference there was two years later, with the words “Asian tigers” being replaced by “Asian crises”. But Asia is fighting back – car sales are increasing steadily, and cars mean tyres. The influence of south east Asia in the world’s tyre industry should not be under-estimated, neither should it be forgotten that four of the world’s ten largest tyre manufacturers are based in Asia and no fewer than fourteen of the world’s top twenty hail from Asia or the Indian sub-continent.
This year’s Commercial Vehicle show at the NEC was a combination of three exhibitions – the SMMT’s CV show, the IRTE Show and Tipcon. No fewer than 579 exhibitors filled 42,500 square metres of floor space. Held over three days, the event attracted a remarkable 22,556 visitors and was generally held to be a great success. The tyre sector was well-represented, with manufacturers, retreaders and service providers, illustrating the importance of the commercial fleet market to tyre companies. Competition in this sector of the tyre business is fierce, with margins consequently depressed. TYRES & ACCESSORIES spoke to ten tyre manufacturers and retreaders at the show and the overwhelming message was that customers were demanding ever-increasing amounts of information and more sophisticated back-up services. The actual product of the tyre, given that it is of an acceptable level of quality in the first place, appears to be of less and less importance in today’s market. An increasing number of fleet customers are looking for a partner to handle every aspect of their tyre policy, from supplying product to carrying out maintenance and servicing breakdowns.
