Vee Rubber has had a long period of sustained growth in the last two decades, and is now the employer of over 4,000 at its three large manufacturing facilities on the outskirts of Bangkok. Their combined production now exceeds 25 million tyres per annum, about half of which is now exported through branch offices throughout Asia, Western Europe, USA, Canada and Latin America.
Relative newcomer to international tyre and automotive servicing machinery Sivik has a comprehensive range of quality products that has seen exports increase, first from its Siberian home and now from its Slovakian sales office, as export manager Nikolay Valov told Tyres & Accessories in Bologna: “It was around six years ago that our marketing strategy was broadened, initially to develop sales in traditional Eastern bloc countries, but gradually this evolved to include several countries in Western Europe and beyond.
Founded in 1995 and based in Beijing Best Choice International Trade Co. Ltd. quickly established strategic business relationships with domestic tyre manufacturers eager to market their products internationally. Over the years, this has led to the development of a loyal customer base. Consequently, Best Choice reports that it has the developed the ability to source quality tyres at very advantageous prices. All this culminated in the launch of a new private brand at the recent Autopromotec exhibition.
Marangoni presented two new additions for 2011 in Bologna in the Marangoni M-Power high performance tyre and the 4 Winter comm, a light transport winter tyre. The M-Power is designed for sports cars and SUVs, with an asymmetrical tread that has a block binding system, which gives greater handling benefits. It boasts sporting characteristics, but four longitudinal grooves reduce the typical aquaplaning effect of closed sporting patterns.
A primary supplier in major car and truck manufacturer dealership equipment programs, Hunter was pleasantly surprised by visitor numbers at the Italian trade show. “Autopromotec was very well organised and attendance was much better than we had anticipated,” said Robert Bruce the company's advertising manager.
Vipal’s international presence provided the reason for the company to exhibit at Autopromotec, where the firm showed its wide range of products for the automotive segment. At the show, Vipal showcased solutions and products for tyre and tyre tube repair, with more than 6,000 items in its portfolio.

Maxxis has described a record attendance at Japfest on Saturday, 14 May, as having “cemented the event’s reputation as Europe’s biggest Japanese car show.” The tyre manufacturer’s heavy involvement in the event as an Official Partner allows it to promote its range to enthusiastic buyers of performance, tuning and styling products and increase brand awareness within the Japanese car scene.
Goodyear has announced its return to annual tipper show Tip-Ex at North Yorkshire’s Harrogate International Centre this year. The show, which runs between 10 and 12 June, will see the company display its Omnitrac MSS II and MSD II tyres, which feature the company’s two latest truck tyre innovations: DuraSeal and Max Technology. “An event such as Tip-Ex is a great way for Goodyear to enable tipper operators to view our innovative products Duraseal and Max Technology,” said Adam Stanton, product marketing manger for commercial tyres.
Dubai-based Zafco, the only Dubai based company to exhibit at the Tyrexpo Asia 2011 held in Singapore last month, won the exhibition’s “gold award” for the most innovative stand design. Zafco’s premium brand Zeetex also participated, with all the categories of tyres including passenger, truck and bus. Visitors to the Zafco and Zeetex stands experienced interactive discussions, activities, multimedia advertisements and tyre patterns on display.
As official sponsor and tyre partner for the Goodwood Revival, Toyo Tires will be at The Goodwood Breakfast club for ‘Supercar Sunday’ on May Day. With this in mind, company representatives are extending an open invitation: “why not head down to the Goodwood Circuit and join Toyo for some breakfast?”
The first exhibition since Continental Tyres added another new product to its commercial vehicle tyre range in the UK and Ireland made the CV Show a great opportunity to promote its new HD Hybrid tyre. According to the company, the new dual-purpose drive axle tyre is designed for vehicles that do a combination of regional and long distance work. It is designed to operate a broad range of applications without – says Conti – any compromise in rolling resistance, energy efficiency, grip, safety and noise.
For its part, GITI Tire (UK) Ltd. gave three new tyres their British debut. The first, the GAU861 made not only its British but European debut by appearing at the show. A new all-position pattern specifically designed for the urban waste sector of the market, GAU861 is currently in development and is expected to become available in 295/80 R22.5 later this year. Next up , the GDL617 is a new non-directional long haul drive axle pattern, which is also currently in development. Like the GAU861, this too is expected to enter distribution later on in 2011, although this product is set to be offered in “a variety of sizes.” The final new product on show was the GAR821, which is a new pattern specifically designed for regional bus operations and featuring a reinforced sidewall, solid shoulder and deep tread for “minimised impact damage…mileage performance and reduced noise emissions.” As well as the new tyres, the company also gave a further six existing products publicity at the show.
While the 2011 CV Show was well-attended by tyre majors and equipment suppliers alike, there was also a surprising number of tyre wholesale and distribution companies present. These included Kirkby Tyres & Wheels Ltd and RH Claydon Ltd as well as Tyreline OE Ltd and TD Tyres. What the two well-known wholesalers (Kirkby and RH Claydon) had in common was the fact that both firms were showing the latest Chinese-produced additions to their respective tyre product portfolios.
With one of the largest tyre-related stands at this year's CV show (along with Bridgestone, Giti, Michelin, etc), Hankook was seeking to raise the profile of its latest commercial vehicle tyre technology amongst UK. As it happened the company got more than it bargained for when government transport minister, Mike Penning MP, dropped in to see the firm’s e-cube (truck) and Kinergy (car) fuel saving technology.
Just six months before the next edition Autopromotec, which will be held at the Bologna Exhibition Centre from 25 – 29 May 2011, the organisers are saying that the numbers of foreign exhibitors and buyer/dealer delegations confirmed so far are a “clear sign that the Bologna event is in pretty good health.”
To date, the number of exhibitors confirmed for Autopromotec 2011 remains at the record level seen at the last show in 2009, with an outstanding 35 per cent of foreign companies to highlight the increasing internationalisation aspect of the event. The increase in exhibition space seems to demonstrate that those who were there last time will be back. Only this time they are said to be booking larger spaces to increase their visibility in the professional automotive aftermarket sector. Indicators of this type, in a period which cannot be referred to as one of economic stability, are seen as ways the organisation committee has channelled efforts in the right direction.
