Bridgestone supplying recovered material tyres to 2025 BWSC

Since 2013, the Bridgestone World Solar Challenge (BWSC) has enjoyed title sponsorship from one of the world’s largest tyre manufacturers, and many entrants compete on Bridgestone tyres. For 2025, the tyre maker is supplying Enliten technology tyres containing more than 65 per cent recycled and renewable materials. Bridgestone will provide these tyres to 33 teams of the 37 teams signed up to compete (as of 4 June 2025) in the Challenger and Cruiser classes.

Bridgestone & Eneos building pilot ELT pyrolysis plant

Bridgestone Corporation will pilot the pyrolysis process for recycling end-of-life tyres within a new demonstration plant at its Seki production site together with Eneos Corporation and supported by the Japanese government’s New Energy and Industrial Technology Development Organization (NEDO). Starting construction work in November 2025, the partners aim to bring this plant into operation in September 2027 with a capacity to process 7,500 tonnes of tyres annually.

Eneos partnership: Bridgestone begins pyrolysis tests

Bridgestone Corporation recently began producing oil and recovered carbon black through the pyrolysis of end-of-life tyres at a test facility in Japan. The tyre maker is operating this unit within the Bridgestone Innovation Park in Kodaira City, Tokyo as part of a joint project with Eneos Corporation.

Bridgestone partnering in ELT raw material projects

Bridgestone Corporation has commenced a joint programme with four other parties to develop chemical recycling technologies that can deliver high yields of isoprene from end-of-life tyres (ELTs). Earlier today it also announced the launch of a joint research and development project with one of these entities, Eneos Corporation, to extract raw materials from ELTs using pyrolysis with the aim of further using these materials to make new tyres.
