KBT Tyres new official Magna Tyres partner

Magna Tyres Group has appointed Christophe Cantou as sales manager for the region South France. Cantou has over 15 years of sales experience in the tyre industry and has worked for various well-known tyre companies. He will be working alongside Peter Schreudering and focus on the southern part of the country.
At next month’s Bauma show, Mitas will unveil a brand new tyre for rigid dump trucks. The ERD-45, which will initially be available as a size 18.00R33 fitment, will go on sale in May and is designed for use in hard surface conditions. Mitas says the ERD-45 offers excellent traction, and the tyre’s sidewall protection offers good cut resistance. Three further sizes, 21.00R33, 21.00R35 and 24.00R35, will join the ERD-45 range in 2017 and 2018.
Kal Tire reports that its Mining Tire Group has opened a new off-the-road (OTR) tyre retread and repair facility in Antofagasta, Chile.
Michelin North America says operations at its giant earthmover tyre factory in Starr, South Carolina will be suspended by the end of this year in response to a slowdown in global demand for these products. The decision to put production at the relatively new factory on hold will effect some 100 employees; Michelin says they will be offered jobs at other Michelin facilities in the area.
Continental Commercial Specialty Tires (CST) has launched two new tyres for off-the-road applications – the Conti EM-Master, which is available in E3/L3 and E4/L4 versions, and the E4 Conti RDT-Master. The manufacturer says the tyres are customised for specific demands encountered in the construction and earthmover segment and offer “excellent traction and high cutting resistance” regardless of application condition, be it soft, muddy soil, solid terrain or anything in between. The first of these new ‘ContiEarth’ tyres will be available at the end of this year, and Continental says further sizes and tyre solutions are planned for 2016 and beyond.
The Kuzbass region of Russia is the site of the country’s largest coal field and two thirds of Russia’s annual production of 350 million tonnes of coal is mined there. As such, it is a fitting setting for the annual Ugol Rossii mining exhibition, held in the Siberian city of Novokuznetsk since 1992.

Following the launch of the ERL-30 at Intermat in Paris, Mitas is promoting the 29.5 R25 ERL-30 tyre, which will be available for worldwide sales in September 2015. ERL tyres are used on loaders, dozers and graders in mining operations. The all-steel radial construction of Mitas 29.5R25 ERL-30 tyre is particularly designed for large wheel loaders such as Liebherr L 586 and Caterpillar 980. The Mitas ERL series features 12 various tyres of 28 to 90 mm tread depth.
Indian OTR tyre manufacturer BKT estimates its global market share at “around six per cent” in the off-highway tyre segment, but following its appearances at major European trade shows Intermat and Sima in 2015, it stated that an increase in market share is one of BKT´s goals in terms of strategic growth. The company aims at a turnover of 2 billion US dollars by 2020; a challenging target based on a positive trend of growth of 30 per cent over the last five years corresponding to six per cent market share in the specialist segments for agriculture, earthmoving, mining, and industrial vehicles and machinery as well as port, ATV and gardening applications. The last financial year ending on March 31, 2014 closed with BKT’s turnover at 780 million US dollars. The company employs more than 7,000 people and sells over 2,300 products in 130 countries worldwide.
