GRI has introduced a new tyre for heavy-duty loader applications, the Gripex LT122. The Sri Lankan tyre maker says the LT22 features a sturdy and robust nylon casing that provides extraordinary impact and shock resistance for extended tyre life. It adds that the tyre’s tread compound ensures resistance against wear and cuts, whilst the tread design enables higher traction for better productivity.
At the end of January 2020, Aeolus Tyres announced that the company successfully broke the 57-inch radial OTR tyre barrier. The Aeolus 46/90R57 AG01 earthmover tyre is now the “largest engineering radial tyre” that the company has ever produced.
Jörg Wörner has been named the new customer solutions engineer for earthmover tyres within Continental’s Commercial Specialty Tires (CST) business area. His arrival boosts the technical customer service operation in the EMEA region, which Continental says is “instrumental” in its drive to “focus directly on customers.”
Japanese tyre and rubber manufacturer Yokohama is planning to invest into and even buy Prometeon, the new name for the former Pirelli commercial and industrial tyre manufacturing operation, according to a range of sources. Tyres & Accessories first heard this news in July and then the Italian financial press subsequently suggested that Prometeon’s shareholders were considering restructuring Prometeon’s ownership. Yokohama is understood to be leading the suitors. The official Yokohama/Prometeon investment announcement is expected during the course of the next week or so.
Magna Tyres Group shares that it has opened a sales office in the USA. Its premises in Fort Lauderdale, Florida opened on 1 September and is the company’s second office in North America. Magna Tyres Group has been present in the region since establishing a sales office in Canada at the start of this year.
The radialisation in India’s commercial vehicle and off-highway tyre market has slowed down but is still progressing, says Apollo Tyres. During an earnings call earlier this month, chief financial officer Gaurav Kumar commented that radialisation in the market as a whole has “slowed down slightly from earlier expectations.”

The first radial earthmover tyre made by Guangxi Linglong Tire rolled off the production line earlier today. For the wholly-owned subsidiary of Shandong Linglong Tire, the start of production represents an important milestone in Linglong’s RMB 4 billion (£454 million) investment programme. Through this investment, Linglong aims to manufacture 20 million high-performance car tyres, 2 million all-steel truck radials and 60,000 specialty tyres per annum.
ATG has presented its latest addition to the Alliance tyre range at the Bauma show. The Alliance A585 has been developed for construction machinery such as compact and backhoe loaders. ATG says the A585 offers excellent traction on dry, wet and wintery surfaces. It adds that the tyre also features superior puncture resistance and extremely low wear, particularly when used on hard and highly abrasive surfaces.

Construction and off-highway tyre specialist Tyre Boss Ltd has increased its marketing capacity with the appointment of Helen Kiddle of HelenK PR & Marketing to manage its PR for the business. The appointment of HelenK is effective 1 April 2019.
A new service concept from Continental is expected to act as a step forward towards greater servitisation, the development of revenues from services. The concept is called ContiLogger, and it incorporates tyres, hardware, software and data. Continental will present ContiLogger at next month’s Bauma show.
Further growth within the Continental earthmover tyre portfolio. A new compound is now available for the Continental RDT-Master tyre, a product aimed at rigid dump truck applications. Continental developed this cut-resistant compound for rough and abrasive applications where tyres have to withstand sharp gravel, rocks and stones.
Continental has appointed Reinhard Klant as the new Earthmoving product line manager for Commercial Specialty Tires (CST).
According to local news sources, the Michelin earthmover tyre factory in Starr, South Carolina will reopen today. The Anderson Observer writes that the facility’s reactivation will be made official at an event held at the plant today.
