Bridgestone has issued its 2023 Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DE&I) Annual Report for Europe, the Middle East, and Africa (EMEA), spotlighting the company’s endeavours to foster an equitable environment for underrepresented demographics and to enrich the diversity of its workforce.
For the 7th time, Linglong Tire is supporting VfL Wolfsburg Diversity Match Day. As part of the women’s home games against RB Leipzig on Monday 11 March 2024 in the AOK Stadium and the men’s games on Saturday, 16 March 2024 against FC Augsburg in the Volkswagen Arena, the Wolves will wear a diversity jersey as a symbol of VfL’s various social activities.

As the evolution of Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) frameworks continues across the automotive sector, the Institute of the Motor Industry (IMI) has appointed experienced EDI advocate, Sally-Anne Hodder as Head of Equity, Diversity, Inclusion & Belonging. In her previous role as Head of HR & Business Support at the IMI, EDI was a significant focus for Hodder, including being a key stakeholder in the implementation, launch and ongoing development of the IMI’s Diversity Task Force.
Hella’s UK managing director, Neil Grant, has become a Silver Member of the Automotive 30% Club, a voluntary network of automotive executives. “I believe that the greater the level of diversity within a team, the greater the variety of ideas and strategies that will be generated,” Grant explains. “In an industry that is changing rapidly, it is vitally important that we are able to attract the best people and that we have the most diverse pool of talent to select from. I am therefore a huge advocate of the Automotive 30% Club and look forward to playing an active part in improving gender equality within the industry, for the greater good of everyone.”
NFDA chief executive Sue Robinson has joined the Automotive 30% Club, a voluntary network of MDs and CEOs from UK based automotive sectors. The organisation sets out to achieve a better gender balance within the automotive industry. It takes its name from its target of at achieving at least 30 per cent of key leadership positions in member organisations with diverse women by 2030.
Endorsing its continued commitment to embrace Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) within the automotive sector, the Institute of the Motor Industry (IMI) has appointed Vijayacittā Harvey as interim head of the organisation’s diversity task force. Established in March 2021 – led by IMI president, Professor Jim Saker and IMI chief operating officer, Lesley Woolley – the diversity task force set out to understand how the motor industry can be a more attractive place to work in for all and bring EDI to the forefront of automotive businesses.
As reported yesterday, Maria Röttger will succeed Anish K. Taneja as president and chief executive officer of Michelin Europe North, effective 1 June 2022. Michelin shares that Taneja has decided to “move to a new role outside the company.”
US non-profit organisation 2020 Women on Boards has goldstarred Cooper Tire & Rubber as a Winning “W” Company for the level of female representation on its Board of Directors.
Automotive Skills has won a major bid for a Women & Work project for the UK retail motor industry – part of a wider funded Women & Work Sector Pathways Initiative. The £10 million initiative is designed to encourage women to consider careers in traditionally male-dominated professions. With an average of less than 20 per cent of the motor industry workforce made up by women, one of the key challenges facing the sector is how to attract a more diverse workforce which can contribute to increased productivity and performance and develop new ideas and improved methods of working.
