Valeo Service UK has reached an agreement with GROUPAUTO to have a strong product presence in the group’s national distribution centre (NDC), used to supply the membership of motor factors nationwide. Initially, Valeo’s top 250 clutch references will go into GROUPAUTO’s NDC, based in Bradford.
Vacu-Lug Traction Tyres Limited has appointed David Fowler as Business Development Manager for the South East region. Covering an area including Lincolnshire, Nottinghamshire, Derbyshire and southwards from there to Hampshire and areas east of that line, Fowler is responsible for increasing Vacu-Lug’s market share of the region’s major fleets.
Cooper Tire has announced its plan to open a 6,800m2 distribution centre in conjunction with logistics expert, Milsped, in Belgrade, Serbia. The facility will be located alongside Milsped’s corporate headquarters in the Krnjesevci area of Belgrade. Due to open in December, the centre will have a storage capacity of up to 400,000 tyres.

Giti Tire reports that it has agreed its first GT Radial distribution deal in Iceland, with Solning already reporting high demand for the initial stock of Champiro IcePro and IcePro SUV. The deal, which commenced at the start of November, is initially for extreme winter weather tyres with the parties already discussing summer stock, including the Adventuro A/T light mud and M/T maximum traction tyres, and the brand’s extensive truck and bus range.
Magna Tyres Group and tyre wholesaler Profil Plus have announced the establishment of a strategic relationship. The agreement, which begins in November 2013, relates to distribution and servicing of the Magna OTR tyre brand in France.
Singapore’s Stamford Tyres has appointed UAE automobile distributor Al Habtoor Motors as the official dealer and distributor of its Firenza car tyre brand. The Firenza brand is already established throughout Europe and the UK and this latest association is designed to build a sales profile in the Middle East for the future.
Motor Wheel Service Distribution (MWSD) and Wheels India have signed a three-year extension to the European supply agreement of xlite forged aluminium wheels, having rolled out the product on the European market since 2011. The xlite brand became global after an exclusive 10-year trademark agreement between MWSD and Wheels India.
Yokohama Tire Mexico (YTMX), a subsidiary of Yokohama Tire Corporation, has announced the hiring of Humberto Gomez as its new director general. In this role, Gomez is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the Queretaro, Mexico-based company. Miami-based US tyre wholesaler Tire Group International reports that it was granted ‘Foreign Trade Zone (FTZ) 281-4’ status on 9 September. This designation will give TGI the ability to defer, reduce and even eliminate customs duties on products brought into its US distribution centre for re-export.

The Tire Repair & Information Bureau reports that US-based company Tesco Italmatic LLC has signed an exclusive agreement with Germany’s Steinbichler to sell and service the company’s passenger car, light commercial vehicle, truck, aviation and OTR shearography machinery in the Americas. Tesco Italmatic is said to be “excited” to supply the retreading industry with the Steinbichler range.
