The Autódromo do Algarve has agreed a three-year extension to its official tyre partnership with Davanti Tyres. The circuit, which plays host to the European LeMans Series, 24H Endurance Series, the FIM World Superbike Championship, and the Algarve Classic festival, is recognised for the technical challenge it poses to racers. The UK tyre brand, which launched its first tyre in 2015, describes the new deal as “a massive coup.”
Davanti Tyres has recently entered its second year as a sponsor of the Premier League’s Everton Football Club, and is marking this milestone with an extension of its partnership into the predominant digital version of the Merseyside club’s home ground, Goodison Park. Davanti’s pitch-side advertisements will play prominently when players of the latest edition of the world’s most popular football simulation, FIFA 19, visit Goodison, just as they do at the real ground, rendered in 4K on the latest generation of consoles.
Last winter, extreme cold weather in the UK and Europe caused chaos on and off road, making the increased mobility offered by 4x4s an attractive proposition. It is into this context that Davanti will launch its new Terratoura.
Davanti has established exclusive distribution deals in five new territories following its participation at The Tire Cologne. The brand stated that the impact of the show has “exceeded expectations”. Davanti held a series of meetings during the event, which resulted in confirmed deals to distribute tyres in the Czech Republic, Serbia, Macedonia, Belarus and Moldova.
Davanti has exhibited its extended range of tyres at Automechanika Dubai, reporting positive reactions to its expansion strategy across Europe and Asia. The brand included its recently launched all-terrain tyre, the Terratoura, explaining that a full range of tyres is a prerequisite for building Davanti’s profile in new markets. The company also mentioned the value of Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) accreditation in the Middle East – a measure Davanti has taken with its whole range, where competitors have chosen to accredit only the most popular sizes.
Since launching with the mass-market focused DX390 and high performance DX640 in 2015, UK based Davanti Tyres has developed and tuned its range to target expansion into global markets. Last year the company produced its first winter tyres to increase its ability to access customers in the northern hemisphere, especially those countries with legislation requiring the fitment of cold weather tread. Now, in a press launch event at Millbrook, where development partner Tread has been testing for the brand, Davanti has brought to market another fitment designed to increase its reach into global markets, the all-terrain Terratoura, in 10 initial sizes between 15 and 17 inches.

SUVs made up 28 per cent of all European passenger car sales last year, according to automotive market research organisation JATO Dynamics. As research elsewhere in the feature also shows, their phenomenal rise in popularity has created an enormous demand for SUV-specific tyres in larger sizes which still deliver ride comfort, minimal noise and control without sacrificing lifespan.
Davanti Tyres is looking forward to the focus on “innovation and agile working” at the inaugural Tire Cologne show (Koelnmesse, Germany, 29 May to 1 June), stating that the theme “reflects where the industry needs to be in 2018.” Organisers say the show has been created to promote innovation in the tyre industry and faster turnaround to bring cutting-edge new products to market. The brand founded in the north west of England in 2015 adds that this philosophy sits well with Davanti as it prepares to exhibit.
Davanti has launched its first range of runflat tyres following extensive research and development. The UK based brand spent several years creating a new runflat to “comfortably exceed” ISO-16992 guidelines on runflat performance (that a run flat must be capable of travelling a minimum distance of 50 miles at a speed of 50mph). Davanti adds that it wanted its first runflat to “match or surpass the performance of rival European brands” which have been producing these tyres for decades.
The Oak Group’s Davanti range will add a runflat fitment to its range in 2018, marking a further extension to the brand’s market coverage. The range will launch in key 16 and 17 inch fitments, the company states.
Davanti Tyres has hosted a group of 40 key UK and Irish customers on a three-day driving experience through the south of France and Monaco. Driving on some of Europe’s most scenic roads, including stages of the historic Monte Carlo Rally in a fleet of classic sports cars, guests experienced the Riviera lifestyle with stays in Cannes and Nice before a final night in Monaco. Cars including Porsche 356 Speedster, Ferrari 308 GTS, AC Cobra and the Jaguar E Type Roadster.
Setting foot inside the entrance of Oak Tyres’ new Newton-le-Willows headquarters, it is clear that the company has made a conscious decision to present a stride forwards in the professionalism of its operations. Renovations to the previously semi-derelict three floor building were taken on as a special project headed by the company’s Gary Cross around 18 months ago; “almost finished” when Tyres & Accessories visited, a strong, corporate aesthetic has been employed, with colours and imagery from the Oak Group’s own Davanti tyre brand, as well as exclusively distributed lines, such as Landsail, added to Oak’s red and greyscale CI.

The 15th edition of the China International Tire Expo (CITExpo), and its second at the Shanghai World Expo Exhibition & Convention Center, opened its two-hall, 40,000sqm exhibition space at a time of uncertainty for the Chinese tyre industry – especially the aspirational medium and small sized companies the show tends to attract as exhibitors. Two factors that promise to change the shape of the industry provided a backdrop for the show: in Europe, the European Commission announced its intention to initiate an anti-dumping proceeding focusing on imports of truck and bus tyres originating in the People’s Republic, prompted by the “coalition against unfair tyres imports,” a group representing the interests of manufacturers accounting for more than 45 per cent of all new and retreaded truck and bus tyre production in the European Union. Meanwhile in China, the government’s crackdown on certain factories for environmental reasons looks likely to affect some tyre manufacturers’ pricing structure at best, and ability to continue to operate at worst. Tyres & Accessories spoke to one representative who suggested that some factories could struggle to meet demands as the availability of raw materials for tyre production is affected by the state mandated closures.
