The Trust My Garage Charity Challenge teams, the Northern Numpties and the Southern Softies have raised the impressive sum of £8,500 for the automotive charity BEN.
The challenge, which was to visit the most TMG members using a route planned by using only the TMG website, was won by the Southern Softies who visited 85 garages during the four day event.
Stuart Jackson has been re-elected as the chairman of not-for-profit road safety campaign group TyreSafe. UK automotive industry charity BEN has extended its support for colleagues in the business. As the devastation caused as a result of the extraordinary series of weather storms in the UK continues, BEN said it recognises the likelihood that members of the automotive community are extremely likely to be amongst those being challenged by the experience.
Lanxess’ operation in India, Lanxess India Private Limited, has pledged to support the Teach For India programme for a further five years. The company has been involved in the non-profit organisation since 2010 and will donate approximately Rs 5.3 million (£51,000) a year.
Apollo Vredestein UK managing director Stuart Jackson revealed several strategic details with which Apollo plans to grow its brand in the UK. Apollo is to introduce a truck and bus tyre range and expand its passenger car tyre lines into a fourth generation, with a sizeable investment in UK marketing “to support brand growth.” The tyre manufacturer will also develop its links with Manchester United, both as a partner in a sports facility initiative and as a significant branding opportunity, with video and print marketing materials featuring the purple of Apollo and the red of the Stretford team.

Maxxis has announced its support for cancer charity Macmillan at the Autosport International show in January. The tyre manufacturer will host motorsport stars, racing cars and bikes, and its own Maxxis Babes team to pull in attendees at the Birmingham NEC. The company has targeted the figure of £500, which it hopes to exceed through calendar sales on the Saturday of the show.
Following the recent tragedy of typhoon Haiyan in the Philippines, Maxxis International has set up a donation fund for its “Maxxis family” members from around the world to contribute to those in need.
The IAAF and its members have raised more than £85,000 for motor trade charity BEN in 2013. The staggering figures were confirmed at the recent IAAF Annual Awards Dinner, where the charity was again featured prominently.

Ge Guorong, the CEO of Westlake, was joined by Al Dobowi’s Harjeev Kandhari and 30 European Westlake distributor partners as the foundation’s first initiative was announced.
Bridgestone key accounts manager Peter Dickson will run the New York marathon this weekend, hoping to raise more than £500 for the Action Medical Research charity. The run will have been three years in the making for Dickson, having originally applied in 2010.
