Autopromotec 2009: May a “Busy Time” for Corghi

Corghi stated that May 2009 was a busy time for Corghi, both at home and abroad. In the USA – one of Corghi’s most important business areas – the company opened a new facility in Hamilton, Ohio, designed to allow Corghi to offer its American customers a comprehensive pre- and aftersales service with direct replacement of parts. By investing in the area, Corghi has demonstrated its commitment to the North American market in these difficult economic times.

Back in Italy, about 10km from Corghi’s original premises in Correggio, the finishing touches are being added to a new 20,000sqm production facility. This new plant will consolidate a number of production processes, such as cutting, bending, welding and painting as well as introducing a greater degree of automation and environmental friendliness.

Corghi Opens New US HQ

After years of offering its products through distributors, Italian tyre equipment maker Corghi has opened Corghi U.S.A., with offices in Hamilton, Ohio. Corghi said that, “historically, the North American market has always been one of Corghi’s most important business areas,” and that over the past 20 years the brand “has developed its presence and has become a point of reference for the tire changer industry. “Recognising the strategic importance of the American market, Corghi has decided to enter it directly in order to offer to its customers the complete wheel service equipment product range, and to ensure the highest level of service to tire professionals,” the company said.

The new 12,000-square-foot headquarters includes offices, training rooms and a warehouse. The copany also lauched a new Web site – www.corghiusa.us – and a help desk for service with free phone number will be activated as of May 16.

Corghi Sees the Blue Light

In the motor vehicle workshop equipment segment, Corghi reports that it is responding to today’s global economical crisis by investing in product innovation, infrastructure and new commercial facilities. The company says that it is committed to constant research in innovative solutions to meet the demands of an increasingly discerning market, an aim that the brand hopes to address through its participation in the Autopromotec show, where it will display a wide range of its newest products.

For the wheel balancer segment, Corghi presents Blue Light, a sophisticated wheel balancing machine developed in response to the needs of the upper end of the market. This high-tech system includes touch screen, real time, blue light and touchless technologies, which aim to simplify significantly the operator’s job.

Visitors to May’s Brityrex exhibition and the CV show were amongst the first in the UK to be given a first hand demonstration of the latest wheel balancer on offer from Apaseal – the Corghi EM7440. This product from the renowned Italian firm features an ergonomic design and a wide flat surface area, which Apaseal claims is ideal for accommodating any required weights and accessories. The unit’s adjustable display utilises on-screen piezoelectric touch sensitive technology, allowing for user-friendly operation and eliminating the need for a keyboard that would take up workspace otherwise put to better use.

The EM7440 has a 40mm diameter shaft that extends from the balancer across the distance of the flange face. The shaft can carry a maximum load of 75kg even without the unit being affixed to the ground. Balancing speeds start from a low launch speed of 70rpm, with 85 and 98rpm also available. The low balancing speed minimises wheel spin times, thereby saving energy and reducing strain on rotating components. Rim diameters up to 30 inches and widths of up to 20 inches can be accommodated.

Apaseal Launches the “Complete Solution” for Run-Flats

In response to growing demand from the marketplace, Apaseal has announced it is launching its “Run Flat Tyre Repair System.” The Repair System has been developed to enable the safe repair of self supporting run-flat tyres, in accordance with the tyre manufacturers’ recommendations for these uniquely constructed products, and includes material to enable technicians to maximise the repair potential in any self-supporting run-flat tyre.

As well as using the integrated plug and patch method of repair, the system also uniquely includes Apaseal tyre dough and nail hole patches for use when the injury is not ‘straight through’. Apaseal Partners With Tech

Apaseal has announced “a new active partnership” with tyre repair material manufacturer Tech International. The announcement follows Apaseal’s key supply partner model. Other partners include Corghi for equipment, Dionys Hofmann for balancing weights and Schrader for the companies valve needs.

The Tech products will provide the UK tyre trade with a wider choice of methods and repairs for tyre and wheel service products. At a recent meeting at Apaseal’s head office, plans were finalised to introduce the Tech range for distribution alongside Apaseal products nationwide.

Corghi Sets Its Sights on Australia

(Australia/Australian Tyre Dealer) Corghi, the world’s largest Italian manufacturer of tyre service equipment, is aiming to increase its presence in Australia.

After a number of years in the doldrums, Corghi brand wants to play a major role in the Australian tyre market again. Under newly-appointed general manager, Jonathan Gant, Corghi is looking to replicate the success it has enjoyed in New Zealand, where its Italian-made wheel balancers and tyre changers enjoy more than 60 per cent market share.
