Cooper Tire & Rubber Company has announced the planned retirement as a full-time executive of Ginger Jones, senior vice president and chief financial officer. Jones intends to focus on serving on public company boards of directors.
Jaap van Wessum has been appointed general manager – Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) for Cooper Tire & Rubber Company Europe Ltd. Van Wessum, who joined Cooper in 2016 as director of sales for Europe, is now responsible for growing the broader EMEA business. He is based at Cooper Europe’s headquarters in Melksham, Wiltshire, and is part of the international management team of Luis Ceneviz, Cooper’s senior vice president & managing director – EMEA and Managing Director – Latin America.
Cooper Tire Europe will have its full range of products on display at this year’s Tire Cologne exhibition, showcasing its expertise in everything from SUV product to motorsport rubber.
Christopher Ball has been named senior vice president of Cooper Tire and Rubber and president of North America Tire Operations (NATO) effective March 19. He reports to company president and CEO Brad Hughes.

Motorists in the UK have rushed from their conventional estates and saloons into the ever-growing range of SUVs that have flooded the market over the last 20 years.

Cooper Tire Asia has received the 2017 Excellent Supplier award from Beijing Automotive Industry Corporation (BAIC). The award was given at BAIC’s recent annual supplier conference held in Beijing. Nearly 150 suppliers were invited to the event where Cooper was presented with the award in the off-road vehicle segment.

The PSRX Volkswagen Sweden driver scored his fifth consecutive event win at the last round in Riga, Latvia to seal the title. The result was also the Volkswagen Polo GTi driver’s ninth podium finish in a row.
Cooper Tire is to mark its third year as a member of the National Association of Manufacturers’ (NAM) and Manufacturing Institute’s (MI) Dream It. Do It. programme, connecting with more than 10,000 students for Manufacturing Day (MFG Day) events throughout October. Cooper will focus on the communities where the company has major facilities—Findlay, Ohio, Texarkana, Arkansas, and Tupelo, Mississippi. The company will also host its own Cooper Manufacturing Experience events, planned by the company’s Dream Team, a group of 40 employees from across Cooper who work with students year-round to educate and improve the image of careers in manufacturing. With such initiatives Cooper states that it hopes to help strengthen the future workforce pipeline.
