GRI expands capacity, continues building distribution networks

During the last 18 years GRI has expanded significantly. Across the material handling, agricultural and construction segments, GRI now produces a total of 100 tonnes of tyres a day. Most recently the company added new mixing capacity in a bid to expand the company’s overall production output. So how does this particular action fit into the wider strategy? Tyres & Accessories interviewed GRI managing director Prabhash Subasinghe in order to find out.

Maxam introduces MS709 telehandler tyre

Maxam Tire has expanded its construction tyre portfolio with an all-new telehandler tyre produced in the company’s recently-inaugurated solid tyre factory in Vietnam. It’s called the Maxam MS709, and Maxam says it has engineered the tyre to “provide the industry with a rugged and long-lasting solution for demanding construction applications.”

‘Tiny percentage of damage claims’ on Michelin products

In the 12 months ending 30 June 2020, Michelin received just 769 eligible claims for damage under its free accidental damage guarantee for regional commercial tyres. Nearly 120,000 entitled truck and bus tyres were sold in the UK and Ireland during this period, meaning a claim rate of 0.65 per cent. Michelin says the rate highlights its product quality, and demonstrates its products’ safety, performance and uptime benefits. The manufacturer claims to be the first to introduce such a guarantee. The programme now covers the majority of its regional and on/off-road ranges when specified as either original equipment or as a replacement.

Trelleborg launches EMR1025 all-season construction tyre

Trelleborg Wheel Systems will debut its EMR1025 all-season commercial tyre for loaders and graders. The manufacturer states that the tyre delivers premium damage protection and durability while adding extra comfort. Its is designed to be a suitable year-round fitment, providing enhanced grip on snow and ice. This offers a potential cost saving for operators, as it eliminates the cost and downtime of seasonal changeovers.

BFGoodrich Cross Control 2 expands construction tyre range

BFGoodrich has launched the Cross Control 2, adding to its heavy truck tyre range for construction applications. It is the brand’s first second-generation product to be introduced into the UK and Irish markets. Available as a steer and drive tyre, the new fitment is targeted at tippers and mixers working in the construction industry and is designed to withstand even the most aggressive of surfaces. The next generation range is available as a 315/80 R22.5 Cross Control S2 (steer), 315/80 R22.5 Cross Control D2 (drive) and 13 R22.5 steer and drive.

Triangle launches 3-star TL535S+ tyre

Triangle has introduced a 3-star ply rated version of its TL535S+ radial for wheel loaders and other machinery used in quarry and industrial sites, giving users the option to choose between 1-, 2- and 3-star fitments.

Continental EM Master OE on Komatsu Dash 8

Japanese construction, mining, forestry and military equipment manufacturer Komatsu recently approved several Continental EM Master tyre models as original equipment for the Komatsu Dash 8 wheel loader series. As of January 2020, purchasers of WA270-8, WA320-8, WA380-8, WA470-8, WA-480-8 and WA500-8 models can select E3/L3 or E4/L4 versions of the EM Master in sizes 20.5 R25, 23.5 R25, 26.5 R25 or 29.5 R25.

Better late than never: Bridgestone opens Thailand OTR plant

A ceremony was held yesterday to mark the official opening of Bridgestone’s new OTR tyre factory in Thailand, marking the conclusion of a long and at times less than certain construction and preparation programme. The ceremony was attended by Bridgestone Group executives as well as members of the Board of Investment, Thailand, Rayong Province, and Japanese Embassy.

Magna Tyres Group: ‘world’s fastest growing OTR tyre company’

Magna Tyres Group’s Bauma 2019 exhibition was used by the Dutch company to demonstrate its fast-growing position in the OTR tyre segment. Exhibiting its products, including 18 OTR, port, industrial, and truck tyres, from a two-level stand with a 30m screen, the show was also used as the platform for the official launch of its new construction range.

Trelleborg debuts Phoenix TPMS

Visitors to this year’s Bauma construction and mining machinery trade fair are amongst the first to see Phoenix TPMS, a new cloud-based system for construction tyres from Trelleborg Wheel Systems. Trelleborg claims its Phoenix TPMS will “enhance productivity in critical applications and to make the operator’s life easier in the most demanding environments.”

Bridgestone to show ‘world’s largest’ 4m tyre at Bauma 2019

Bridgestone will return to construction and mining trade fair Bauma in 2019, presenting a selection of tyres, industrial products and targeted solutions developed for the industry. Bridgestone produces tyres for the world’s largest mining trucks, and will display one of these four-metre-tall tyres, the largest in the world, on its stand, alongside several new products.

Goodyear to debut Omnitrac mixed service OTR tyres at Bauma

Goodyear will feature its flagship products and solutions for construction fleets at the 2019 Bauma exhibition in Munich (8-14 April 2019). These will include the recently-announced Goodyear Omnitrac mixed service tyre range, which makes its exhibition debut at the show. The manufacturer will also showcase its Goodyear Proactive Solutions TPMS Heavy Duty, EMTrack tyre management system and the TL-4A OTR tyre. The manufacturer will be on Stand 224 in Hall A6 at the Messe München.
