Metzeler has launched its 2014 Calendar, celebrating its ongoing commitment to road racing. The 21st edition of the calendar has 19 coloured and black and white images and is accompanied by a mini documentary “The road to legend: a story about road racing”.

ADAC Nordrhein has announced the scheduling of a Qualifying Race for the 24h Nürburgring on 5-6 April 2014. Walter Hornung, race director of the ADAC Zurich 24h Race and head of motorsports at ADAC Nordrhein, explained that the idea was to offer teams an “optimum testing opportunity… without the pressure of a championship.”
During last week’s Agritechnica exhibition, German agricultural publishing group Deutscher Landwirtschaftverlag, or DLV, held its ‘Machine of the Year 2014’ awards. Bridgestone will launch a new motocross tyre and announce an exclusive partnership with a historic motocross organisation at the International Dirt Bike Show. The world’s biggest tyre manufacturer says the sport represents one of the fastest growing motorbike tyre sectors in the UK, as well as offering significant brand awareness and sales opportunities. An official announcement is being made at the hugely popular annual show at Stoneleigh Park, which takes place between 31 October and 3 November.
Kumho Tyres awarded Kindlington Guides £5,000 in its second annual Cash for Causes competition. More than 400 charities and good causes signed up for the tyre manufacturer’s online public voting contest, sharing a fund of £100,000.
German agricultural machinery and commercial vehicle trailer producer Krone has awarded Mitas a ‘Supplier of the Year’ award. The tyre maker earned this distinction in the tyre category and was acknowledged at Krone’s award ceremony in the company home town of Spelle, Germany on 18 September.
Unusually for endurance racing, the latest round of the World Endurance Championship at Fuji saw qualifying become more important than any of the teams could have estimated. Within the coming 12 months, Bridgestone Corporation will close its steel cord facility in Kuroiso, Japan and consolidate production into its remaining Japanese steel cord plant, Saga. The company says these measures will commence immediately and it expects to complete them by late September 2014.
