The Klarius Group has concluded an agreement with Irish auto parts distribution company, CD Group, to sell its Quinton Hazell Ireland operation. QH Ireland will continue to operate as a stand-alone entity within the CD Group of companies distributing QH and Klarius branded products to the Irish market. Dmack has unveiled a new environmentally-friendly rally tyre whose tread is designed to reduce damage to roads and help cut costs and improve sustainability in motorsport. The Dmack Surface Saver has a low impact and less aggressive tread pattern which results in reduced abrasion and damage to gravel roads, the Anglo-Chinese manufacturer says. The E-marked tyre exhibits a symmetrical D-block design with reduced edges and 3mm less tread, measures it says give the tyre enhanced durability.
The fact that Tyre Bay Direct’s NitroFill Auto Club was a contender the TAFF Innovation award that was announced during the course of Brityrex week is likely to promote both the nitrogren inflation brand and the “club” concept. The installation of incorrect tyre pressure monitoring system software has led to the recall of certain Aston Martin models in Australia. The Australian Competition and Consumer Commission has reported the recall of V12 Vantage models sold between 1 August 2009 and 1 October 2012.
Trevor Willis won the Avon Tyres MSA British Hillclimb Championship at Loton Park on 28-29 September to take his first ever national hillclimb title. Speaking after Sunday’s run-offs, Willis said he was glad to have secured the title: “That was a huge relief! I was so glad to take the title in the first run-off as I just couldn’t take the pressure anymore – it was getting too much,” he laughed.

Nexen N’Blue HD, South Korean tyre manufacturer Nexen’s European orientated eco-friendly tyre range, came third in the most recent Auto Express ‘Big Tyre Test 2012’. On two assessments (wet handling and curved aquaplaning), the Nexen N’Blue HD came second overall, with the overall result pleasing engineers and managers alike. It was the first time that Nexen Tire has participated in this test.
