One of the best-known firms in the UK’s 4×4 and SUV aftermarket is Silverline Wheels and Tyres. In addition to stocking major tyre brands and the Atturo SUV and 4×4 range, the Warwick-based company supplies rims designed for the finest British and European off-road vehicles and worn by ‘big iron’ imports from the USA. Silverline has created such a name for itself in this niche market that it’s hard to believe it began there by chance.
Silverline 4×4 wheels and tyres, a company well-known for its specialism on off-road-capable tyres, reports that even its range has evolved in light of changing trends towards SUVs. One manifestation of this can be seen in the addition of a number of more road-orientated Atturo brand tyres to the company’s line-up at the end of 2014, namely the AZ 800, 850 and 600.
During the course of the recent Brityrex exhibition in Manchester, Chris Dawson, head of sales and marketing at Silverline explained how the company’s latest products are helping it achieve its goals. According to Dawson the Atturo brand, for example, has been “exceptionally well received”, with the company having sold out of certain products and sizes six months earlier than expected – despite computer modelling stock projections. The next goal is to sell 10,000 more units of these niche off-road 4×4 tyres during the next 12 months, a goal that should be “easily achievable”, according to Dawson.

Just a couple of months before the Essen show, Silverline International Ltd became the UK distributor for the American Atturo tyre brand. So it was a pleasant surprise to bump into Silverline’s Chris Dawson during the Reifen show who explained the strategy behind taking on this brand.
