Now one of the largest tyre-producing countries in the world, China has an indisputable influence on the direction of global tyre trade. The home of both fast-growing up-and-coming brands as well as a burgeoning domestic market, this tag chronicles China’s involvement with the tyre business.
Data disclosed by China Customs in 2024 shows that China exported 680.57 million tyres last year, an increase of 10.5 per cent year over year. The export value was 158.3 billion yuan (about £17 billion; €20.1 billion), an increase of 5.5 per cent. During the reporting period, the annual tyre export weight was 8.99 million tons, an increase of 4.9 per cent.
Part of Linglong’s Lu’an tyre factory project commenced construction on 7 March. According to the project’s builder, Anhui Zhongqing Construction Group, the part that started construction is the living area and related supporting projects. Zhongqing Construction Group said, “This highly anticipated project has officially entered the construction stage”.
2025 is the 15th consecutive year of the Guangrao Tyre Exhibition. In the past 14 years, thevexhibition has continued to evolve, with the exhibition area, the number of exhibitors, and the number of visitors increasing. Tyrepress China obtained a set of data from the organiser, comparing the specific situation of the first exhibition and the 14th exhibition: the exhibition area has increased from 12,000 square metres to 52,000 square meters, up 333 per cent; the number of exhibitors increased from 179 to 780, up 336 per cent; the number of professional visitors increased from 26,000 to 150,000, up 477 per cent.
Topower Tyre, headquartered in Jiangsu, China, said it will invest $7 million to build a manufacturing base in Cambodia with an annual output of 200,000 solid tyres. The primary construction entity of the project is Topower (Cambodia), a wholly owned subsidiary of Topower Tyre.
With Giti Tire as a whole aiming for the “premiership of tyre makers”, the company reports that Giti China was ranked among the top 1 per cent of the tire industry, receiving a Platinum award (with a score of 85) in the 2025 EcoVadis evaluation and a B-rating for both Climate and Sustainability from the Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP), setting the standard for the rest of Giti’s manufacturing facilities to follow.
The 15th China (Guangrao) International Rubber Tire & Auto Accessory Exhibition (2025 Guangrao Tyre Exhibition) will be held at the Guangrao International Expo Centre from May 15 to 17.
Sailun Group aims to take a majority share in the East China (Dongying) Intelligent Connected Vehicle Proving Ground, a joint venture facility it established together with vehicle manufacturer FAW Group and Dongying City. By investing an additional RMB 420 million (£45.8 million, US$57.9 million) the tyre maker will increase its stake in the venture from 37.22 per cent to 57.41 per cent, and the proving ground will become a Sailun subsidiary. The capital increase will help finance additional facilities at the site.
On 22 February, Yanggu Huatai held a groundbreaking ceremony for its Thailand factory. The factory is scheduled for production in the first quarter of 2026. After reaching full capacity, it will be able to produce 30,000 tons of high-performance rubber additives per year, including 10,000 tons of rubber protective wax, 10,000 tons of rubber processing aids and 10,000 tons of high-performance silane coupling agents.
On 20 February, Toyo Tires’ Shanghai company issued a statement saying that the equity change of the Zhangjiagang factory only involves “changes in investment relations on the production side” and will not affect business operations such as the sales system. According to the announcement, Toyo Tires will continue to use the Zhangjiagang factory as a production base.
Exmile (Jiangsu) New Material Technology is a newly-established car tyre factory in Lianyungang, Jiangsu Province, China. Known for its industrial and construction tyres, the company’s latest manufacturing venture represents a step into the mass-market vehicle sector.
At the end of 2024, Celimo – a brand manufactured by Chinese tyremaker Jiangsu General – announced that its tyres feature two new technologies rolled into one. The first part of “Soundproof Cotton” is made clear in the name – the technology is designed to address noise issues. At the same time, it offers “puncture-resistant” properties capable of handling protrusions of up to 5mm in diameter.
Following the news that Toyo Tire Corporation’s 14 February 2025 board of director’s meeting resolved to transfer 86 per cent of its equity interests in its Chinese subsidiary (Toyo Tire Zhangjiagang Co., Ltd. – TTZ), to Liaoning Hengdasheng Investment Co., Ltd. (LHI), Toyo has released further details including the fact that turnover generated by the Chinese tyre plant declined 41 per cent in the two years prior to the sale.
The Shanghai Stock Exchange Listing Review Committee announced that ZC Rubber “meets the issuance conditions, listing conditions and information disclosure requirements”. According to the announcement, ZC Rubber successfully passed the review of the Shanghai Stock Exchange and obtained the opportunity for an initial public offering (IPO).
Triangle has passed the audit and officially became a member of the United Nations Global Compact (UGNC), an organisation that was established to promote corporate social responsibility and sustainable development. The UGNC currently has more than 20,000 corporate and non-corporate members in more than 170 countries.
On 7 February, the Shanghai Stock Exchange announced that it would hold a review committee meeting on February 13 to review ZC Rubber’s listing materials. The tyre manufacturer attempted to issue no more than 87,448,560 shares to raise 4.85 billion yuan (about £536 million; €644 million) for five projects.
