Hankook renews support for Air Ambulance Service

Hankook Tyre UK has renewed its partnership with the Air Ambulance Service, first established with the first sets of tyres supplied in 2017. The tyre manufacturer provide tyres for its Rapid Response Critical Care car fleet, which supports its helicopter fleet, throughout 2020. Since the partnership began, the Air Ambulance Service have been able to switch to operating 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, and have extended their car fleet with the addition of two new Škoda Kodiaqs.

Michelin UK volunteers produce 1,000s of pieces of PPE

Michelin

Michelin staff have produced thousands of protective face masks at a temporary manufacturing centre in Stoke-on-Trent. The masks have been used to keep colleagues, customers, and the community safe in the Covid-19 pandemic. The Michelin Athletic Club, close to its factory and office, housed volunteers and furloughed staff producing the masks following extensive training.

Prometeon supporting Red Cross during coronavirus pandemic

Automotive industry charity Ben says the number of people seeking its support for mental health and money concerns has increased. It adds that demand will continue to grow as the full impact of the COVID-19 pandemic unfolds. The charity has created a ‘Coronavirus hub’ on its website, with specially developed online tips, advice, and tools for managing money, coping with stress, and facilitating home working now available.

Wheely-Safe agrees road safety pledge with Brake

Wheely-Safe has announced a new initiative with industry charity, Brake. It pledges to make a cash donation for every van, bus, coach or truck displaying a ‘Wheely-Safe fitted’ vinyl graphic, highlighting its protection using the firm’s latest generation tyre and wheel safety technology. Wheely-Safe will gift £5 for every light commercial vehicle (LCV) and £10 for every heavy goods vehicle (HGV) or public service vehicle (PSV) carrying the sticker, which it will supply with all new systems.

General Tire and TyreMarks have provided a set of Grabber AT3 all-terrain tyres to the search and rescue team to ensure they can carry out their work safely, responding to emergencies on the wild and remote uplands of Dartmoor. Michelin renews Transaid membership, pledges £25k

Michelin has renewed its corporate membership of Transaid, the official charity of the transport and logistics industry. The tyre manufacturer, which was a founder member of the charity in 1998, also pledged to fundraise a further £25,000 in cycle challenge sponsorship during 2020.

Coronavirus: SRI donates to China Charity Federation

Another tyre maker contributing to coronavirus relief efforts is Sumitomo Rubber Industries, Ltd. The Japanese tyre maker shared yesterday that it has donated RMB 2 million (£220,000) to non-governmental organisation the China Charity Federation. The donation supports the charitable organisation’s ongoing efforts to provide relief to those who are suffering from pneumonia and other ailments caused by the strain of coronavirus that continues to spread in China’s Hubei Province and beyond.

Dawsongroup has selected international development organisation Transaid as one of its two lead partner charities. The UK owned business specialising in the provision and funding of supply-chain assets across Europe has joined 37 corporate members from across the transport and logistics industry supporting Transaid’s primary goals of improving commercial driving standards and ensuring better access to healthcare in sub-Saharan Africa. Transaid projects are currently underway in 12 countries, including Madagascar, Tanzania, Uganda and Zambia.
