Scottish tractor run backed by Goodyear Farm Tires

A spectacular array of vintage tractors will take to the road in Scotland this coming weekend in aid of cancer charities as the Mearns Vintage Vehicle Club will be staging a Tractor Run from Laurencekirk to Brechin on Sunday, July 18. The run will start from road haulage and transport business Douglas Mitchell Limited in Laurencekirk at 9.30am and a convoy of around 60 tractors will make its way to the Brechin depot of leading Scottish tyre specialists Soltyre.

Hankook surprises children with Europa league final tickets

Hankook – as part of its long-standing partnership with UEFA and this year’s UEFA Europa League Final in Gdańsk, Poland – enabled children selected by two non-profits to attend the final. Both chosen non-profit organisations are involved in football-related activities for children. Amp Futbol Polska supports children with amputations and physical disabilities who want to play football, while Fair Play Program aims to empower girls and women in football in Poland. Not only were the children able to watch the final between Villareal CF and Manchester United live, but they also received exclusive backpacks made from the original centre circle banner tarpaulin, filled with goodies to enjoy after the game. They were also allowed to take photos with Polish goalkeeping legend Jerzy Dudek, and the original UEFA Europa League Trophy before the match.

Everton, Davanti Tyres providing school uniforms to socially deprived areas

Everton in the Community and Davanti Tyres are distributing school uniforms to pupils from Liverpool’s most socially deprived areas. The football club’s official global tyre partner has donated £10,000 to support the distribution of more than 480 complete school uniforms. The uniforms will be given to children from the most disadvantaged wards across Merseyside, whose families have been hit hard financially by the long-term effects of the pandemic.

Over £3000 raised in memory of Simon Davies

Friends and colleagues from the tyre industry have raised over £3000 in memory of Simon Davies who died of brain cancer recently. Those mourning his loss repeatedly referred to him as a true “gentlemen” who they came to know through his last 12 years as a national account manager for Bridgestone – a role that brought him into close connection with Kwik Fit, Stapletons, Micheldever and Bond International – as well as nearly a decade as a key accounts manager at Goodyear before that. Transaid picked for project to improve public transport provision in Lusaka

Transaid has been selected by the sustainable transport planning and research consultancy, ITP, to support the development of a road map for providing improved public transport services in Lusaka, in a major new project funded by the World Bank. The Zambian capital is one of the fastest developing cities in southern Africa, with its metro area population growing by nearly five per cent annually for the last 20 years. Yet it remains almost entirely reliant on minibuses for intracity public transport, supported by a smaller number of buses and taxis.

Micheldever people and pedal power proves rewarding for charity month

Micheldever Tyre Service’s wholesale team covered almost 2000km by foot and bike in raising £11,000 for men’s health charities in November. The 28-strong team is sending the funs to organisations involved in providing support and raising awareness for prostate and testicular cancer, mental health, and suicide prevention. LKQ Euro Car Parts customers donate more than £10k to automotive industry charity

Customers shopping in LKQ Euro Car Parts branches have collectively donated more than £10,000 to automotive industry charity, BEN, by adding £0.25 to their total when they check out. The funds have been raised via a new partnership with Pennies, an award-winning provider that gives people the option to make digital ‘micro-donations’ when paying by card, as a way of encouraging them to give to good causes.

Transaid ambassadors to ride 500km route virtually to raise vital funds

Transaid ambassadors Guy Heywood (Hankook) and Marcio Bonifacio (Z Tech Control Systems) are determined to raise vital funds for the charity despite the pandemic-enforced postponement of two major cycling events. The pair will complete the planned 507km route of the 2020 Transaid Malawi Challenge virtually between Wednesday 9 and Sunday 13 September. They will use SMART bike trainers and the Zwift cycling app from their homes in Frankfurt and Cambridge to simulate 10km of climbing and between 15 and 18 hours of riding. Heywood told Tyres & Accessories that the pair are trying to raise enough in sponsorship to buy two cycle ambulances or to fund a health care worker in Africa for one year. Bridgestone becomes tyre partner to The Distinguished Gentleman’s Ride

Bridgestone EMIA has become the official European tyre partner of motorcycle charity event, The Distinguished Gentleman’s Ride (DGR). The global event brings together riders’ passion for classic style bikes and men’s health charity Movember, for which it raises funds. DGR will hold its first-ever solo edition on Sunday 27 September 2020. In 2019 the event brought together 116,000 motorcyclists across 100 countries. Welcoming Bridgestone’s support, DGR founder Mark Hawwa explained why the ride was urgently needed.
