Singaporean tyre producer Omni United has marked a decade of supporting the Breast Cancer Research Foundation via its flagship brand Radar Tyres. Since 2011 the company has donated nearly US$1.4 million to fund 28,000 hours of lifesaving research.
Wigan Warriors Community Foundation and Davanti Tyres have teamed up to donate 300 free PE kits across several local primary schools. Davanti became the rugby league club’s official tyre partner ahead of the 2021 season. Its Make It Happen campaign provided additional funding to support the foundation’s work. The tyre brand’s contribution has helped ease the burden on families in some of the town’s most economically challenged communities. It follows on from Wigan Warriors Community Foundation’s successful summertime Holiday Hunger programme which provided free holiday activities and packed lunches across the borough.
UK automotive parts distributor, Partbusters, has made a generous donation to the Great Ormond Street Hospital, raising approximately £1,500 for the charity. The figure included £600 from takings from the company’s coffee machine, which was then doubled by Ricky Bassi, director and founder of Partbusters, before other members of the Partbusters team rallied round to raise a fantastic £1500 for the charity.
Falken has donated 5,000 euros to the Offenbach-based organisation “von Herzen zu Herzen gemeinnützige GmbH” (the “Heart to Heart” charity). The donation has been shared between two charities supporting children: Theresien Kinder- und Jugendhilfezentrum e.V. (St. Teresa Centre for Aid to Children and Young People) and Förderverein der Mathildenschule (Foundation of the School of Saint Matilda).
A spectacular array of vintage tractors will take to the road in Scotland this coming weekend in aid of cancer charities as the Mearns Vintage Vehicle Club will be staging a Tractor Run from Laurencekirk to Brechin on Sunday, July 18. The run will start from road haulage and transport business Douglas Mitchell Limited in Laurencekirk at 9.30am and a convoy of around 60 tractors will make its way to the Brechin depot of leading Scottish tyre specialists Soltyre.

Both chosen non-profit organisations are involved in football-related activities for children. Amp Futbol Polska supports children with amputations and physical disabilities who want to play football, while Fair Play Program aims to empower girls and women in football in Poland. Not only were the children able to watch the final between Villareal CF and Manchester United live, but they also received exclusive backpacks made from the original centre circle banner tarpaulin, filled with goodies to enjoy after the game. They were also allowed to take photos with Polish goalkeeping legend Jerzy Dudek, and the original UEFA Europa League Trophy before the match.
Everton in the Community and Davanti Tyres are distributing school uniforms to pupils from Liverpool’s most socially deprived areas. The football club’s official global tyre partner has donated £10,000 to support the distribution of more than 480 complete school uniforms. The uniforms will be given to children from the most disadvantaged wards across Merseyside, whose families have been hit hard financially by the long-term effects of the pandemic.
Friends and colleagues from the tyre industry have raised over £3000 in memory of Simon Davies who died of brain cancer recently. Those mourning his loss repeatedly referred to him as a true “gentlemen” who they came to know through his last 12 years as a national account manager for Bridgestone – a role that brought him into close connection with Kwik Fit, Stapletons, Micheldever and Bond International – as well as nearly a decade as a key accounts manager at Goodyear before that. Kwik Fit is marking its 50th birthday by encouraging people to don their overalls and dancing boots and do the famous ‘Kwik Fit fitter dance’, whilst helping to highlight the increased risk of prostate cancer to men aged over 50.
Transaid has been selected by the sustainable transport planning and research consultancy, ITP, to support the development of a road map for providing improved public transport services in Lusaka, in a major new project funded by the World Bank. The Zambian capital is one of the fastest developing cities in southern Africa, with its metro area population growing by nearly five per cent annually for the last 20 years. Yet it remains almost entirely reliant on minibuses for intracity public transport, supported by a smaller number of buses and taxis.

Micheldever Tyre Service’s wholesale team covered almost 2000km by foot and bike in raising £11,000 for men’s health charities in November. The 28-strong team is sending the funs to organisations involved in providing support and raising awareness for prostate and testicular cancer, mental health, and suicide prevention.
