Continental Tire the Americas has given news of two promotions within its Passenger and Light Truck – US Replacement unit. Chris Charity has been named director of sales – corporate accounts. In this role, Charity will be responsible for managing and directing sales efforts for passenger and light truck tyres with national retail and automotive aftermarket customers within the US market. Sean McDermaid will take over from Charity as national sales manager – dealer group. In his new position, McDermaid will be responsible for overseeing Continental’s field sales force, as well as the development and growth of business with independent dealers and distributors.
As part of its mandate, the Infinity Tyres Foundation aims to help communities within the markets Infinity Tyres operates in. With that in mind, the foundation recently signed a ten year commitment to support the Arnold Foundation for Rugby School and help it to continue its good work. The scheme enables students in the UK who can’t afford a public school education to receive one in one of the country’s most prestigious boarding schools – supporting this is one of a number of ways the Infinity Tyres Foundation is particularly targeting the UK, and Infinity says it is intended as a way of saying thank you to the British market for having been such a huge supporter of the Infinity brand over many years.
Automotive Charity BEN has been awarded a 2-star rating in the Sunday Times 'Best Companies to Work For 2012'. The award which placed BEN as one of the country's best not-for-profit organisations was presented to HR Director, Sara Howard at a special ceremony by Best Companies Director, Glenn Dimelow.
In total 1082 organisations entered for this year's awards and places were determined based on employee feedback on areas ranging from leadership and management vision to wellbeing and personal development.
The Royal Automobile Club will host its first Charity Cup Golf Competition to raise money for BEN at Woodcote Park on Tuesday 24 April. The Club will donate all funds raised from the event to BEN, the UK's only charity for those who work in the automotive and related industries, as well as their dependents; and the Henry Surtees Foundation.
Throughout November 2011 automotive industry charity, BEN ran a text competition with a special edition, top of the range Snap-on McLaren Sport tool box which had been signed by Formula One's Jenson Button the star prize. 4,300 people entered, raising £4,000 for BEN. Entrants were required to text the answer to the question: ‘BEN is the official charity of which industry?' Thousands of people responded with the correct answer – automotive – and picked at random was the winner from Devon.
This year, Vintage Tyres is planning several special events and offers to celebrate the company’s 50th anniversary.
Kia Motors Slovakia has produced the one millionth vehicle at its factory in Zilina – a white, diesel-engined cee'd SW. The car was immediately handed over to a Slovakian children's charity, the Red Nose Clowndoctors.
Bridgestone has announced that it will support Midlands-based Acorns Children’s Hospice in 2012, with fundraising events including a monthly “Dress Down Friday”. The Hospice was established in 1988, providing care for terminally ill youngsters and their families in the Midlands. The Acorns provides tailored nursing, emergency care and short breaks for the children at each of its three hospices in addition to continual support for their families from its highly trained Community Team.
The Infinity Tyres Foundation has donated funds to the Indian High School of Dubai (IHS) to “help develop its infrastructures and broaden its programme of scholarships”. The Foundation said the funds were “intended to reinforce our interest in the future leaders of tomorrow and our strong commitment to making a better and fairer society”. Infinity hopes that its donation will allow the school to decrease student fees and award generous scholarships.
Automotive industry charity, BEN will hold its inaugural BEN Blades Summer Ball on Thursday, 21 June 2012 at Sywell Aerodrome in Northamptonshire. The event, raising money for the charity, will include two aerobatics displays, with the opportunity for attendees to take a ride in one of several classic flying machines. This will be followed by a Champagne Reception and a three-course meal.
Stapleton was literally bristling with moustaches last month. No the company did not step back into the seventies or make a new fashion statement. Instead the efforts of some 30 of Stapleton’s staffers aimed to put the fun into fundraising for the phenomenon known as Movember – the annual moustache-growing frenzy that raises money and awareness for men’s health issues such as prostate cancer and other cancers affecting men.
The HiQ fast fit network says it is “well and truly tickled pink” with Dunlop British Touring Car Championship fans, whose clamour for official memorabilia helped raise £6,000 for Breast Cancer Care at Silverstone. For the third time this season, the Teams' Championship sponsor set up its pink stand and did a brisk trade in HiQ hats, large foam spanners and all number of T-shirts and goody bags. Through their efforts the HiQ team, together with the pink ladies Beverley Edwards, who won this year’s national grid girl competition, managed to boost the amount raised this season past the £15,000 mark. In total, HiQ has raised more than £80,000 for Breast Cancer Care since partnering with the charity in 2009.
A self proclaimed ‘basic Basingstoke housewife’ will be transformed into a glamorous grid girl for the day after winning a prestigious motorsport competition at Silverstone with the HiQ fast fit network. Mother-of- three Beverley Edwards was chosen as HiQ’s Pink Grid Girl following an intense online vote (she was 149 votes ahead of the nearest rival), meaning she will line up with Team Aon, representing one of their three drivers on the day.
Toyo Tires has supported a Golf Day organised by Mike Craddock, director of Malvern Tyres. The Captain’s Charity Day, held at the Harpenden Golf Club where Craddock is the captain, raised money for MacMillan Cancer Support, with the collected funds to be spent in the county of Hertford. Amongst the many fundraising activities was an auction for which Toyo donated a set of tyres to the value of £500. The evening event raised a total of £3,500.
