The fifth “Tyre Guys Tour” ended up in the Grand Canyon this year. Every year a Group of tyre traders from Europe meet up to exchange information and enjoy a fantastic trip on a Harley Davidson.

Pirelli highlighting rallying return at Autosport International
At next week’s Autosport International, Pirelli will showcase its new range of FIA World Rally Championship (WRC) tyres ahead of the tyre maker’s return to world rallying. Pirelli will also bring four cars to the show including a McLaren MP4 12C, McLaren’s road-going car which exclusively uses Pirelli tyres as original equipment. Also on display will be a Pirelli-equipped McLaren GT3 to represent the Dutch Supercar Challenge, as well as a Ferrari 458 used in the Ferrari Open and GT Cup Championships – both of which use Pirelli as the championship control tyre supplier. Finally, a Pirelli-equipped Skoda Fabia S2000 that was used to win this year’s European Rally Championship will be on display to mark Pirelli’s return to WRC.
Maxxis to use Autosport appeal to raise Macmillan funds
Maxxis has announced its support for cancer charity Macmillan at the Autosport International show in January. The tyre manufacturer will host motorsport stars, racing cars and bikes, and its own Maxxis Babes team to pull in attendees at the Birmingham NEC. The company has targeted the figure of £500, which it hopes to exceed through calendar sales on the Saturday of the show.
IAAF members raise more than £85K for BEN in 2013
The IAAF and its members have raised more than £85,000 for motor trade charity BEN in 2013. The staggering figures were confirmed at the recent IAAF Annual Awards Dinner, where the charity was again featured prominently.
The traditional envelope donation raised £5,800 which was swelled by the proceeds of an auction for a World Cup 1966 football shirt, which bore the autographs of several of the World Cup squad. The competitive bidding reached the heady heights of £1000.

Be-whiskered staff from automotive and cycle retailer Halfords have helped the company take the title for the most participants in Movember of any firm in Europe.

BEN mourns the loss of David Prescott
BEN, the automotive industry charity has announced that David Prescott, MBE, FCIS, former Deputy Chief Executive, and long standing supporter, has died following a short battle with cancer. In an illustrious career that spanned more than 50 years (36 of which were served with BEN), David dedicated himself to improving the lives of others and his loss will leave a huge void for those who came to know this truly remarkable man.

Bridgestone launches Movember campaign
Those of you sporting a lustrous ‘Burt Reynolds’, a horseshoe or full imperial, or even just run of the mill upper lip hair, will definitely want to keep the razor at arm’s length this month. Today marks the start of ‘Movember’, and Bridgestone is getting in on the action. The facially hirsute-friendly company has launched its Bridgestone Bros campaign, which follows a moustache-festooned classic VW campervan as it cruises across Europe searching for the “biggest, bushiest and most brilliant moustaches” and encouraging people to get involved to raise money and awareness for men’s health.
Bridgestone’s Dickson to run New York Marathon
Bridgestone key accounts manager Peter Dickson will run the New York marathon this weekend, hoping to raise more than £500 for the Action Medical Research charity. The run will have been three years in the making for Dickson, having originally applied in 2010.
BEN’s royal visitor
Following BEN’s recent announcement of its plans to create a new residential and retirement ‘village’, the charity was honoured by a visit from His Royal Highness Prince Michael of Kent GCVO who laid the foundation stone of the state-of-the-art care centre currently under construction on the site of Lynwood, BEN’s long-standing centre in Sunninghill, Berkshire.
Preedy gets on his bike for Transaid
Marc Preedy, commercial director for Goodyear Dunlop Tyres UK has just completed a 335km bike ride for the international development charity, Transaid. The cycle ride, which saw Marc conquer the roads of both the UK and Holland in just three days, has seen him raise an impressive £4000 for the charity.

GEA raises thousands at annual BEN golf day
This year’s GEA gold day was staged at Whittlebury Park near Silverstone and with 18 teams was one of the best supported in recent years. According to the Garage Equipment Association, the event was all about raising cash for the motor trade charity BEN and this year’s profits were £2,927, which all goes to the charity.
