BEN London to Paris 24 hour cycle challenge
BEN is calling for keen cyclists to complete its London to Paris 24 hour challenge to help raise funds for the automotive industry charity. The closing date to register for the charity event, which will see the cyclists cover 240 miles in just 24 hours, is the end of March.
Sailun Tyres becomes World Child Cancer charity sponsor
Sailun has announced that it has become the exclusive automotive sponsor of global charity World Child Cancer. The charity is dedicated solely to addressing the global inequality in diagnosing and treating children with cancer. Of the more than 200,000 children who develop cancer worldwide each year, 80 per cent are from low or middle income countries where fewer than five per cent will survive. The survival rate in high income countries is 80 per cent.
‘James Hunt’ overalls from Rush to be auctioned for charity
CharityStars, an online charity auction house based in Milan and London, is offering a unique piece of motorsport history for sale: the overalls worn by actor Chris Hemsworth, who played James Hunt in the film Rush.
Landsail sponsors Mongolian Charity Rally team
Following its title support for the Performance Car Show, Landsail Tyres is to sponsor a team in the 2015 Mongolia Charity Rally. The rally is an epic 10,000 mile, pan-continental road trip across mountain ranges, deserts and barren and inhospitable lands, starting in London and ending in the ancient Mongol capital of Ulaanbaatar.

International development charity, Transaid, has mapped out a Celtic challenge for this year’s annual European cycling fundraiser, and is calling on industry professionals to take part.
Pirelli staff raise money for charity
Hats off to Pirelli for putting their hats on this December and raising money for charity. According to the company, Burton-based employees pulled on festive headwear to support “Blind Children UK”.
Marg Mcfarlane, from the security department at Pirelli, helped to coordinate the activity at the company. She said: “It was great to see colleagues get into the Christmas spirit and wear quirky hats to work – there were some sights! Everyone donated £2, which will help contribute to changing a life for a blind child.”

NTDA silent auction raises £500 for BEN
During Brityrex International 2014, the NTDA held a silent auction of a signed Ryan Giggs no.11 Manchester United shirt, which commemorates his 588 appearances, 108 goals and 24 years of service with Manchester United. It also lists all of his accolades as a player during that period including his PFA Player of the Year in 2009.

Pirelli announces support for Richard Burns Foundation at Castle Combe
Pirelli UK will provide its rally simulator to the Richard Burns Foundation at the Rallyday event in Castle Combe on 20 September. All proceeds from the simulator experience will go to the Richard Burns Foundation: a charity set up in the name of the 2001 World Rally Champion, who won his title on Pirelli tyres.
Transaid receives record £1.83 million grant
Transaid has been awarded funding of £1.83 million from Comic Relief to run its largest ever project, which will provide vital access to maternal health services in Zambia. It follows just months after Transaid secured its first ever grant from Comic Relief; £1 million to set up a five-year Emergency Transport Scheme in Adamawa State, Nigeria.
GT Radial team cycles 707,265m in 24 hours to raise over £1,000 for Marie Curie
Raising more than £1,000 for Marie Curie Cancer Care, GT Radial’s Le Mans 24 Hour Cycle Race team pedalled 169 laps of the 4,185m Circuit Bugatti. The team, comprising Brian McDermott, managing director UK for Giti Tire; Ellis Hadley, senior test engineer; Martin Gibson, senior test engineer; and Bertrand Saint-Supery, OEM EU technical director, covered a total of 707,265m to finish 340th out of 458.
