Hankook confirms chairman’s arrest
Hankook Tire & Technology has confirmed reports of the arrest of Hankook Tire chairman Cho Hyun-bum. Writing in statements published between 7-9 March, company officials confirmed that: “On 6 March 2023, the Seoul Central District Prosecutor’s Office requested an arrest warrant for our executive, Cho Hyun-bum. As a result of the Seoul Central District Court’s pre-arrest interrogation (arrest warrant review), an arrest warrant was issued on 9 March 2023.”
Liu Yanhua named chairwoman of Sailun
SailunOn 30 December 2022, Sailun held a general meeting of shareholders to elect members of the sixth board of directors. Liu Yanhua was elected chairwoman of the tyre manufacturer, and Xie Xiaohong became president of Sailun. Liu Yanhua’s resume shows that she worked in two accounting firms before coming to Sailun. Prior to being elected as the chair, Liu Yanhua was the vice chairwoman, executive vice president and chief financial officer of Sailun.
Bahk named Hankook & Co. BoD chairman
Hankook & Company, holding firm for Hankook Tire & Technology, has appointed Bahk Jae-wan chairman of its Board of Directors. The appointment was confirmed at a general meeting of shareholders and board meeting held on 30 March.
Rob Collinson is new IGA Chairman
The Independent Garage Association (IGA), which represents the independent garage sector in the UK, is pleased to announce the appointment of Rob Collison as Chairman effective from March 2021. Collinson succeeds Colin Parlett, who recently stepped down from the role after many years.
Martin named SEMA chairman-elect
At the start of June Tim Martin from K&N Engineering was elected SEMA’s chairman-elect and will help the SEMA board of directors lead the association for the 2017–2019 term. Martin fills the position held for the past two years by Wade Kawasaki of the Coker Group, who will begin serving his term as chairman in July. James Lawrence from Power Automedia was also voted onto the SEMA board of directors, and Greg Adler from Transamerican Auto Parts was re-elected, and will serve another term.

ATMA (the Indian Automotive Tyre Manufacturers’ Association) has appointed Satish Sharma, Apollo Tyres Ltd’s president, Asia Pacific, Middle East and Africa (APMEA as the body’s next chairman.
Grouptyre (UK) Ltd appoints new chairman
Tyre wholesaler Grouptyre (UK) Ltd, has appointed Gary Oliver as its new chairman of the board of directors. Oliver, who is managing director at Grouptyre Wholesale Ltd, has taken over the role from John Cooper from Grouptyre member Cooper Brothers.
