Cenex – the UK’s first Centre of Excellence for low carbon technologies – successfully helped Nottingham place a winning bid securing £6.1m for the first ‘Go Ultra Low Cities’ scheme, set up by the Office for Low Emissions Vehicles (OLEV). Other winning cities including London, Bristol and Milton Keynes, will also receive funding through the programme which was launched nationally by Secretary of State, The Rt Hon Patrick McLoughlin MP, at the University of Nottingham.

The VC3 computes the economic and environmental performance of diesel, electric, gas and stop-start van technologies. UK Centre of Excellence for low carbon technologies, Cenex will launch its new website-based electric vehicle viability analysis tool at LCV2014. Responding to the needs of fleet managers, Cenex has developed a simple-to-use fleet decision making tool. Cenex’s FCRT lite (http://www.cenex.co.uk/fleet-carbon-reduction-tool/) enables fleet decision makers to accurately access the viability of low carbon vehicles within their fleet operations. The tool is based on real world duty cycles, real world fuel consumption and real world electric vehicle range. By providing a realistic total cost of ownership, FCRT lite aims to de-risk the implementation of low carbon fleet solutions.
