Euro Car Parts has launched its brand new catalogue for 2005/06. The new catalogue, which contains 196 pages of more than 60,000 parts and accessories for the German, French and Scandinavian car marques provides claims to be the most comprehensive reference and ordering point in the UK.

Euro Car Parts has announced a new addition to its XTR alloy wheel family. The Sabre, complete with Hyper Silver Finish, is available in 15 inch to 18 inch sizes and joins the Jagged, Revolve, Phaze and Coast in the XTR alloy range (prices start from £233.95 for a 15 inch set to and £304.95 for 17 inch models). All XTR wheels are available as wheel and tyre packages, with a choice of rubber to suit all pockets. The price includes chrome valve caps, balancing and tyre fitting.
On 9 January the NEC in Birmingham will host the Great British AutoJumble and Automart. The show offers visitors the largest selection of car-related products available under one roof. There event will also feature a dedicated Automart section where an extensive range of used cars will be available to buy.
The Great British AutoJumble section will have over 500 stands with a wide range of automotive products and services available including motoring memorabilia, reconditioned, new and old car parts for 1000s of marques, literature, tools and car care products. Live demonstrations will also be featured showcasing new automotive products and informative restoration displays.

Motor World has confirmed that it will join other exhibitors at next year’s Aftermarket Show. The company’s attendance guarantees the presence of a product range including car parts and accessories for the performance car markets, audio, in-car vision, navigation, styling, alloys and tyres.
Only two years after its foundation, Cevher Alloy Wheels (Izmir, Turkey) has achieved the impressive feat of becoming an original equipment (OE) manufacturer of aluminium casting wheels. The company’s first assignment will be producing wheels for the Volkswagen T5, followed by a contract to work with Ford in the company’s Turkish car plant. In a promising development for the company, there have also been discussions with BMW. The acceptance of the company into the OE ‘circle’ is down to years of OE experience producing a range of other aluminium car parts says group president and CEO, Haluk Oezyavuz.
In a bid to reward loyalty, UK based Euro Car Parts has sent more than 800 garage owners, specialist repairers and workshops on an African Safari.
The promotion, sponsored by Lion Batteries, targeted more than 10,000 UK customers operating in the car aftermarket sector.
Individual sales targets were set over a six-month period with the incentive of winning a trip for two to Kenya. The holiday included safari to the Masai Mara game reserve and five star accommodation, all courtesy of the independent supplier of car parts.
Chris Barella, group marketing manager at Euro Car Parts, said: “We have built up long term working relationships with customers across the UK, based on trust and quality of service and wanted to reward the loyalty of our customers by offering them something extra special. From the feedback we’ve had it looks like we achieved this.”
Car parts producer Visteon is moving its Asian HQ from Tokyo to Shanghai in order to capitalise on the growth in demand for vehicles in China. Visteon has five joint ventures in China, all supplying the domestic industry, and last year they turned over $550 million, compared with $350 million from Japan.
On 5th April the consultant company had invited more than 150 experts from the car parts and accessories sectors for its third conference concerning the car component aftermarket. As tyres are counted as part this segment as well, trends from this part of the business were presented and discussed as well. In times where sales of new cars begin to drop, the importance of the aftermarket business begins to grow again. But on the other hand the competition in this field is fiercer than ever -due also to the internet and e-commerce. This was the reason why the event was subtitled “The good times are over – means for success in hard times”. And the topics of the internet and e-commerce were at least mentioned by almost every speaker, sometimes being even the main topic. These new media enable the industry to provide products directly to the end consumer, leaving behind the old traditions of trade via wholesaler and retailers.
Chris Swan has bought the Autela and Edmunds Walker brands of Finelist, the car parts group which went into administrative receivership last year. Swan was the founder of Finelist in 1991, leaving the company in March 2000. The two brands will complement Bulldog Express, Swan’s new parts venture formed earlier this year, and together they claim to be the third largest player in UK automotive parts distribution market, which is estimated to be worth four billion Pounds.
There are reports of redundancies and closures at car parts group Finelist, which went into administrative receivership. Rumours that 120 staff had been made redundant and that 50 Motor World car accessory shops had been closed down, were not confirmed by receivers. It is believed that over 100 companies have expressed an interest in buying parts of Finelist, with ten or so willing to buy the group as a whole.
