In anticipation of the introduction of the EU’s tyre labelling legislation in 2012, Cam Systems has announced that it will introduce Cameo V24 in September 2011; the system will allow customers to access the software upgrade within their support contract entitlement in time to plan their legal compliance. Cam says the system has been designed to allow its customers “to present a professional, high quality image to motorists, providing retailers with the opportunity to up-sell to higher margin brands”.
Brighton’s Blackrock Tyres has signed up for Cameo from Cam Systems, a software platform that allows tyre retailers to reduce their reliance on paper and streamline business tasks. The company’s director Keiren Saitta used the Cameo application for 10 years with a previous employer: “Cameo is really easy to use and is excellent for running the business. It provides me with all the accounting, stock control and point of sale functions I need and has completely got rid of the need for pen and paper!”
County Donegal’s Ulster Tyre Company has announced it is to use the Cameo platform to establish a line into MIDaS B2B from Cam Systems. The new applications will enable the tyre wholesaler and retailer to streamline trade lines with its partners to support its ambitious growth plans. The company’s 50,000 sq ft site houses over 20 different brands of tyres, covering all segments. The decision to introduce the two platforms together is based on the company’s desire to increase customer connectivity, interaction and delivery, and to acquire effective tools for effective operations in the future.
Fleet tyre management company Trucktyre has integrated Cam Systems’ recently launched casing management module into its UniSerV suite, leading to an increase in the speed and efficiency of its job card system and a 90 per cent reduction in its paper transfer. The module also eliminates double entries and improves data accuracy and tracking. Trucktyre says it processes 6,500 breakdown job cards each month.
Halfords has appointed Bill Duffy as CEO of Halfords Autocentres effective 12 September 2011. Duffy has been chief operating officer at Halfords Autocentres (previously Nationwide Autocentres) since February 2006. According to the company, he has huge experience of the automotive market and garage-servicing sector from his 30 years in the industry and is well qualified to lead the operation through the next phase of its growth.
Cam Systems has announced the appointment of former Michelin employee Richard Stainsby as its new business development manager. He will be responsible for managing and developing client relationships to director level. Stainsby has over 12 years’ experience in the tyre industry, instrumental in implementing marketing strategies, winning new business, renegotiating contracts and developing innovative customer service tools.
Cam Systems has launched a casing management module, designed to simplify and improve the overall efficiency of the casing management process. It will help to track the location and value of tyre assets which have been removed from a vehicle. The module is available as an integrated component within Cam’s UniSerV suite alongside Call Logging, Integrated Mapping and Document Manager, enabling customers to track each individual casing for its full lifespan.
Cam Systems has announced that Halfords Autocentres has signed an e-procurement agreement with the software provider, as it continues to develop its growth strategy. Halfords announced a proposed expansion of its network to 400 sites in May. Cam says the MIDaS-based platform will provide transactional interaction with Halfords’ wholesale suppliers to streamline its tyre buying processes.The system will also allow consumers to view product prices online in coordination with Halfords’ own B2C web facilities.
Tyre industry software specialist Cam Systems has announced the launch of its new webinar presentation series aimed at providing customers with information and advice on areas such as electronic ordering, Workshop Scheduler, rebates management and purchase invoice/GIN matching. Managed through e-commerce extensions to its website, the webinars will present modules on new and existing software. Cam Systems says the series provides its customers “with the opportunity to tap into and gain maximum benefit from the software… of which they may be unaware.” Each webinar will include a question and answer session with one of Cam’s technical expert.
Following the introduction of the first UniSerV application modules from Cam Systems in April 2010, independent tyre network Tyrenet is reporting a 30 per cent saving in administration time to process invoices and has gone completely paperless since the beginning of March 2011.
Independent tyre industry software provider Cam Systems has signed an exclusive agreement with Azolve Limited to provide scanning and workflow solutions to tyre dealers. Azolve’s products are designed to increase efficiency and cost-savings by automating what have historically been manpower-intensive operational processes.
JH Tyres of Armagh, Northern Ireland has invested in Cam Systems’ Cameo platform, citing its ability to control its stock and generate credit reports as worthy of the long-term investment. John Henry, owner of JH Tyres says: “We are looking forward to reaping the benefits of the new Cameo system such as stock monitoring and generating credit reports. I’m confident it will reveal a full range of benefits as the system is rolled out.”

With over 13 years’ experience in ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) consulting, Meikle has been instrumental in implementing SAP and Microsoft Dynamics business solutions in retail and wholesale sectors.
Totrax has announced that it is introducing Cam Systems Cameo product to provide “greater flexibility and efficiency to its business through streamlining its day to day operating system.” By replacing its outmoded platform with the modern Cameo software system, Totrax aims to flex and grow the programme with its business, which has doubled in size over the past three years.
